Willard Library Annual Appeal

0

As the oldest public library in the State of Indiana and one of the oldest libraries in the Midwest, Willard Library is unique among cultural icons in the City of Evansville—everything from its historic architecture, the rare and expansive local history archives, to the unique programs for children and adults.

In 2015, Willard Library, one of Evansville’s premiere cultural destinations, opened its first ever building expansion since its opening in 1885.  The Browning Gallery in this addition now serves as an indoor venue for library events and the Park’s role as an outdoor entertainment space has been elevated. This year the Browning Gallery in Willard Library and the Willard Park were host to over 20,000 visitors!

We are excited to announce that on June 21-22, 2019, Willard Library will expand these offerings and will host a free, regional event that will celebrate Evansville history in a grand way! The centerpiece to this Heritage Days Festival will be an original play about the life and times of library founder, Willard Carpenter, written by an award winning New York City playwright. In addition to the theatrical performances, there will be fun activities, historical re-enactors, music, and other sideshows befitting a Victorian street fair!

You can be a part of this success with your gift to Willard. By making your contribution today, you can become part of Willard Library history.  Your gift will help to launch programs showcased in the Gallery and theatrical and celebratory events in the rejuvenated Willard Library Park. But most importantly, plan to attend with your family and friends.
