VHS to Host Microchip Clinic to Protect Pets Ahead Of Halloween

The Vanderburgh Humane Society is hosting a special afternoon microchip clinic on Tuesday, October 25th from 1:00-3:00 pm. Microchips will be sold for $15, which is 40% off the regular price of $25. Microchips are normally only offered on Saturday mornings at the Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic.

Halloween can be a scary and dangerous time for pets. With trick-or-treating going on, strangers are walking up to front doors dressed in costume and doors/gates are being opened much more often. This may terrify pets who are nervous, older, or who have not lived in their homes very long. Gates can be left open or unattended pets can be stolen from yards. Identification is a necessary factor in ensuring a pet’s safe return if it does go missing. A properly-fitting collar, ID tags with current phone numbers, and a registered microchip will greatly increase pet owners’ chances of getting their beloved pet home safely and promptly.
