USI Spring 2017 Commencement ceremonies to be held this weekend

WHAT: USI Spring 2017 Commencement Ceremonies

 

CEREMONY SCHEDULE:

WHERE: Physical Activities Center. A map of campus that includes University Center and all parking lots can be found at USI.edu/map.

 

STUDENT AVAILABILITY: Students will be available for interview in PAC 200 while staging for the Commencement procession. Media members who wish to speak with students are welcome to do so as long as they do not remove the student from his or her place in line and do not disrupt the processional. Processions will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony.

 

BY THE NUMBERS: 

  • A total of 1,199 graduates registered to participate in the five ceremonies out of 1,496 eligible to participate.
  • 298 students will graduate with academic honors: 24 summa cum laude, 128 magna cum laude and 146 cum laude. 47 students successfully completed the University Honors Program and are recognized as University Honors Scholars.
  • All graduates will become members of the USI Alumni Association, which will grow to more than 40,000 members upon the addition of the Class of 2017.

  • Graduate Ceremony – Amy Jo Sheeley ’01 ’05 M’06, practice Administrator for St. Vincent Medical Group-Evansville OB/GYN
  • Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education – Dr. Hans R. Schneider ’01, Senior Project Manager for Bartlett Cocke General Contractor’s Austin Self-Perform and Warranty Division
  • College of Nursing and Health Professions - Joshua F. Bowman ’09, Health Facility Administrator with Bethel Manor and adjunct instructor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions
  • Romain College of Business and Outreach and Engagement - Nitin V. Naidu ’00, President and Founder of Spice Box in Indianapolis, Indiana
  • College of Liberal Arts - Dr. Jennifer C. Wright ’03, Branch Chief of Customer Value Assessment and Program Manager of Voice of the Customer with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)

HONORARY DEGREE: At the Graduate Ceremony, an honorary Doctor of Laws degree will be presented to Linda E. White, president and CEO of Deaconess Health System, who is celebrated for her commitment to innovative learning experiences and dedication to quality health care.
