“READERS FORUM” MARCH 14, 2019

14

We hope that today’s “READERS FORUM” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

THIS IS WHAT’S ON OUR MIND TODAY

The students at Bosse High school risk their life’s every day crossing highway 41.  Highway 41 runs through the city and it is extremely dangerous for the Bosse High students to cross it daily. The safety of students should be the main goal of elected officials and this overpass will allow the students at Bosse High school to cross Highway 41 without worrying about dodging busy traffic.

PLEASE contact your local and state elected officials and urge them to support putting an overpass bridge across Highway 41.

WHAT”S ON YOUR MIND TODAY?

Todays“Readers Poll” question is: Are you disappointed that not one City Council member made a request to the City Controller to give them a detailed financial accounting of the Evansville Thunderbolts?

Please go to our link of our media partner Channel 44 News located in the upper right-hand corner of the City-County Observer so you can get the up-to-date news, weather, and sports. 1. How about not one City Council member looking into the Kelley Course DMD financial fiasco of possibly selling the old CVS building at 800 N Main St. for $178,000 when it is assessed for $890,000 and the genius DMD bought it in December 2014 for $535,000. Hello, anyone home??

      • You’d think the City Council would stop slapping themselves on the back for their recent AOC stunt of pledging to go green by 2050, and actually do their job by looking into this DMD mess

        • Can anyone get copies of the 2 appraisals for 800 N Main that were mentioned near the end of the March 5 Redevelopment Commission meeting? Are they public records?

  2. “Ronald Reagan” snowflake alert – this is how crazy it gets when left wing liberals are in charge:
    ……………………………….
Students at a New York college routinely ranked as one of the most liberal in America are accusing administrators of not being progressive enough – unless they accept a long list of demands, including taking teaching duties away from “racist white professors” and providing laundry detergent — and softener — for all.

The wide-ranging declaration that emerged this week at the $54,440-a-year Sarah Lawrence College comes as bands of students have been marching around campus, chanting outside the president’s home and participating in sit-ins over their beliefs the school has “not implemented sufficient strategies to dismantle systematic oppression to be sustainable or safe for marginalized people in an increasingly dangerous political climate.”

“If the College does not accept these demands, it will no longer be hailed as a progressive institution, but instead remembered for its inability to truly embody its self-proclaimed progressive ideology and support all students against an international rising tide of white supremacy and fascism,” reads a press release from the Diaspora Coalition student group.

The group, which describes itself as “students who can speak to the injustices imposed on people of color by this institution on a daily basis”, is demanding that, among other requests:

“All campus laundry rooms are to supply laundry detergent and softener on a consistent basis for all students, faculty and staff.”
“Students of color should not be forced to resort to racist white professors in order to have access to their own history. It is crucial that the College offer courses taught about people of color by people of color so that students may engage in and produce meaningful work that represents them authentically.”
“When dining options are closed on campus, the College must provide free meals for students staying on campus, including vegetarian, gluten-free, vegan, halal, and kosher options.”
Students from the Diaspora Coalition and “at least three faculty members of color” are allowed to conduct a tenure review surrounding the position of politics professor Samuel Abrams – who they describe as “an anti-queer, misogynist and racist who actively targets queer people, women and people of color.” They also want Abrams to publicly apologize for writing an op-ed for the New York Times last year.

    • Is RR on hiatus in Mom’s basement or closet? By this time, he/she/whatever would have insulted and impugned you and your sources at least a half dozen times. I hope he hasn’t lost his blankie.

    • What a collection of nuts and flakes at Sarah Lawrence. Most are probably majoring in gender studies or other demanding liberal arts majors that will greatly benefit science and industry. Free laundry detergent and softener for all! Viva Bernie!

  3. Behold the Trump derangement syndrome pandemic affecting “all tolerant” and “all caring” liberals
    ……………………………………

There Have Been 332 Reported Hate Crimes Against Trump Supporters

Since September of 2015, there have been 334 reported hate crimes — or if you prefer, bias crimes — against supporters of President Trump.

These reported crimes include physical assaults, vandalism, and the encouraging of violence against individuals and groups based only on their personal beliefs.

  4. Never been more pleased with the democrat party. Love AOC and other freshmen representatives and how they have exposed the core of hate within the democrat party. Hope the people of the 1st ward pay particular attention to what the democrat game plan is for trying to elect a democrat to the city council.
