  1. It really is time for the city to cut bait with ECHO Housing. The excuses are getting to be pathetic and embarrassing.

  2. Interesting article in the C&P today on the Drag Queen library reading hour targeted for children ages 11 and under. 3 of 7 EVPL board members are appointed by the EVSC. That alone explains much, as the uber liberal EVSC let children out of school to protest President Trump’s visit to Evansville. The ex-county council appointee said only she had been contacted by the appointing authority, after she was contacted by Mr. Shelter. SAY WHAT? No one on the EVSC board OR the County Commissioners understood there might be a problem with gay men garishly dressed in women’s clothing with stage names like Trixie, Glam and Goldie in a public building reading to children under age 11? Where is Commissioner Musgrave? Normally she can be counted on to tirelessly advocate for the best interests of the community, and this bizarre event certainly is the opposite of that. What background checks are being done on the cross dressing drag queens? Have they been fingerprinted and checked out by the EPD? Or do they just show up in costume and start interacting with children under the age of 11? Where has common sense gone with the EVSC and the County Commissioners? Kudos to Councilman Shetler for having both common sense and a backbone to stand up for the silent majority of our residents. The EVSC needs board members that aren’t afraid to do the right thing.

      • Want to help Hello Mellow get into drag? A collaboration between Sez Me and Drag Queen Story Hour, The Dragtivity Book gives kids an inside look into what it’s like to be a drag queen! Kids have a lot of questions after attending Drag Queen Story Hour, and sometimes parents and teachers don’t have all the answers. We created The Dragtivity Book to provide a fun way for children and the adults in their lives to continue exploring drag and gender together.

        • Hey, Nutermeyer, there is no link between the hatred you are posting and the actual event. There appears to be no link, considering Evansville is NOT listed on the pages you posted

          • Ronald, todays letter to the Editor by Mr. Davis stated this a traveling troupe paid by the Library. Your spiteful and reactive posts are getting old. Civility is important when we may disagree with other CCO posters.

  3. 34,709 Recent Crimes Committed by Undocumented Immigrants: Where’s the News Coverage?

There were 34,709 crimes of various types committed by illegal aliens in fiscal years 2016, 2017 and the 11 months of 2018, according to the United States Customs and Border Patrol or CBP, one of the seven components of the Department of Homeland Security.

While the largest number of crimes – more than fifteen thousand or 44 percent of the arrests and convictions of illegal aliens – were for unlawful entry or reentry, all the other crimes – 19,510 offenses or 56 percent – caused financial, medical, physical, psychological or sexual harm, impairment, or damage to the hapless victims, or led to their deaths.

Trump Wall Wouldn’t Fix Problems At The Border

If there is a truly frightening crisis, it is in the White House. It comes in form of an erratic, fearmongering president making as much noise as he can while pushing hard on all of democracy’s pressure points.

In 2017, the last year for which the FBI has compiled data, there were 17,284 instances of murder and non-negligent manslaughter in the USA. These are serious crimes, and this is a serious matter. But few political leaders these days talk about a violent crime “crisis” because the problem is far less acute than it was in the 1990s, and because no one has any easy solutions

Much the same is, or should be, true about illegal immigration. It is a serious matter. The United States cannot be seen as providing a pass to those who come here unlawfully. And the nation is dealing with an upsurge in migrants from Central America

This is a significant problem, particularly in the southern border states and for the migrant families themselves, but it is not a major national crisis. Illegal immigration is actually down sharply from its highs of the past two decades, thanks to fewer people coming from Mexico. The United States, moreover, has dealt with far larger influxes of refugees. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, and during the Ethiopian famine of the 1980s

Trump wants there to be an immigration crisis, and he tried to make a case for one in a prime-time speech in January that repeated his usually litany of exaggerations, falsehoods and guilt-by-associations. In the latter part of the address, he focused on the violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, at one point indignantly asking, “How much more American blood must we shed before Congress does its job?” without acknowledging that these people actually commit crimes at a LOWER rate than the native-born population

Trump wants/needs a crisis because he thinks it will gain him leverage in a mundane but damaging dispute he is in with Congress that shut down parts of the government. He wants $5.7 billion for his border wall ,which he now calls a physical barrier made of steel, the one Mexico was supposed to pay for.

In the days leading up to the January speech, Trump said he was considering an even more overwrought response: declaring a national emergency in a bid to repurpose national security spending to his wall project. But that would tie the wall up in lengthy legal challenges

By invoking the language of crisis, Trump is hoping to shift the largely negative public opinion about his wall

But the public understands that the wall is a costly, impractical solution to the illegal immigration problem, half of which consists of people who enter the United States legally and overstay their visas. And while drugs are an enormous challenge, virtually ALL the Mexican heroin comes through legal points of entry

  4. Behold the agenda of the new far left Democrat party:
    ………………………………………………………………………….
“Massachusetts Democrats are pushing a sweeping bill to allow more third-trimester abortions, meaning the commonwealth would join New York in having some of the loosest restrictions in the country.

Massachusetts law currently bans abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy except if a woman’s pregnancy endangers her life, or if continuing the pregnancy would risk “grave impairment of her physical or mental health.” The Remove Obstacles and Expand Abortion Access Act, or “ROE Act,” would loosen those restrictions by dropping the “grave impairment” language and allowing abortions after 24 weeks to protect the mother’s “physical or mental health, or in cases of lethal fetal anomalies, or where the fetus is incompatible with sustained life outside the womb.”

The bill would give doctors much more latitude in deciding to conduct abortions and would delete the section in current Massachusetts law that requires doctors to “take all reasonable steps … to preserve the life and health of the aborted child,” including having life-supporting equipment in the room. It would also repeal existing law that requires a minor to get her parents’ consent before an abortion.”

  5. Mr. Davis, are you certain the Library is paying taxpayer money to put on this traveling drag queen show? Do you know how much they are paying?? Is there a signed contract? This becomes more unbelievable all the time.
