Multiple unlocked cars ransacked, firearm stolen in east side neighborhood

Evansville Police filed several reports after multiple vehicles were ransacked in an east side neighborhood. All of the vehicles were left unlocked.
A handgun was stolen from one of the vehicles. Police believe the firearm was then used to shoot another nearby vehicle.
The incidents happened in the 7900 block of Beachfront Ct. and the 8300 block of Sail Dr.
Police are reminding everyone that a vehicle is not a safe place to store a firearm. Car owners should also lock their vehicles when they are left unattended.
