  1. An outside independent auditing firm would be great; however, in order for this to become reality, the State Board of Accounts must sign off. Generally, one would believe that the SBOA was non-partisan but as it seems based on the most resent audited financial statement of this City, the SBOA allowed this administration to omit proper disclosures, i.e. Russ Lloyd, Jr intentional manipulation of the General Fund. So, do not expect anytime soon witnessing the SBOA’s blessings for an outside audit.

  2. If you do not like the way the Evansville Department of Metropolitan Development operates it is probably because they seemingly exist for the sole reason of serving the unelected Evansville Redevelopment Commission, which is actually nothing more than a branch of the local chamber of commerce.

While it is true that their schemes must be approved by the Evansville Common Council before they can reach into the taxpayers billfold, the Common Council is only as good as the sum of its parts, and for some reason the voters do not seem to hold them to a very high standard. There are moral and ethical people in this community who would make excellent public servants, and if they can not be persuaded to run for office this city, and this state, could very well wind up in the same situation as our neighbor to our west.

      • Maybe the people of Illinois should encourage Cook County to form it’s own State. As long as Illinois has the likes of Chicago and for that matter East St. Louis and it’s corrupt local politicians, the State stand little change.

        • Not such a bad idea. Once a city gets to a certain population level it is unreasonable to expect the rest of the state to financially support that city’s experiments in social engineering. Also, Chicago and Indianapolis are both guilty of cherry picking the businesses coming into the state for locations within their areas, and do not give a damn about the rest of the state, even though the money they use to provide “incentives” to attract those businesses is supplied by taxpayers statewide.

          • PAK . . .you are dead on about States that have a large majority of its population concentrated in small area, i.e. Chicago, Indy, NYC, etc and how they rape the remainder of those respective states.
