“IS IT TRUE” DECEMBER 13, 2018

12

We hope that today’s “READERS FORUM” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE that Republican Tim O’ Brien just announced his candidacy for a position on the Evansville City Council in Ward #1?  …he is currently serving as the Southwest Indiana Association of Realtors President-Elect and will serve as the 2019 President? …he is employed by the same real estate company (FC TUCKER/EMGE) that employs current City Council members, Missy Mosby, and Jonathon Weaver?

IS IT TRUE we are told that a well known conservative Democrat from a highly respected political family is considering throwing his name in the hat to run for the 1st Ward seat?  …if he does Republican Tim O’Brien will have one heck of a political dogfight on his hands?

IS IT TRUE we are expecting that Missy Mosby and D’Angelo Tayor will officially announce that they will be running against each other in the Democrat primary?  …this race should really turn out something to watch?  … whoever wins the primary battle better be ready to face an excellent Republican candidate named Natalie Rascher in the General election?

IS IT TRUE we are told that Democrat Zach Heronemus will be running against Republican Gabriel John Hayden, CPA in the 3rd Ward?  …we expect that Mr. Heronemus will attack Mr. Hayden for spearheading the effort to give ECHO Housing around $500,000 of taxpayers while the results of the forensic Audit and EPD criminal investigation haven’t been made public?  …also have been told that Hayden will be drilled on why he allowed the ‘Jacobsville Join In’ group to abruptly close without finding out the reason why?  …this group was located in the 3rd Ward and was funded by the DMD and supervised by the officials of ECHO Housing?

IS IT TRUE it looks like Alex Burton is poised to replace retiring 4th Ward City Councilwoman Connie Robinson?  …that the 4th Ward is considered to be a safe seat for the Democrats?

IS IT TRUE that 6th Ward Democratic Councilman Jim Brinkmeyer should be re-elected to City Council?  …are told that Mr. Brinkmeyer will have token Republican opposition in the General election?

IS IT TRUE we predict that Democrats Jonathan Weaver, Ed Bassemier, Amy Word-Smith, and Kristin Holt Burkhardt will be competing for the three (3) At-Large seats on City Council? …we expect that Republicans candidates Ron Beane, Michelle Mercer, and Alex Smith will run extremely competitive races against the Democrats?

IS IT TRUE that Democratic City Clerk Laura Windhorst will run unopposed in the primary?  … we expect her to have token opposition in the General election?

IS IT TRUE we also predict that 5th Ward Councilman Justin Elpers will run for re-election as an unopposed candidate in the Primary and the General election?

IS IT TRUE it looks like the chances of Mayor Winnecke being re-elected to a third term are very good?

IS IT TRUE we expect that the Republicans will go do everything in their power to take control of City Hall?

IS IT TRUE  we been told that the Vanderburgh County Republican Party Chairman Wayne Parke recently filed a petition with the State GOP to remove Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer as a Precinct Committeemen in the 1st Ward?  …we are told that the rationale for Mr. Parke’s action against Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer was that he publicly supported the City Council attorneys wife when she ran as a Democrat for a seat on the Newburgh City Council? …we are told that Mr. Parkes petition was declared dormant because Mr. Schaefer moved from that Ward?

IS IT TRUE  we wonder if the Warrick County GOP Party Chairman filed a petition to remove  Josh Clayborn as a Warrick County precinct officer after he openly supported his wife who ran as a  Democrat for the Newburgh City Council?

IS IT TRUE that by 2021 when only a few miles of water pipes are replaced, the water rates will have increased by 118% in only 5 years?…the new pipes alone are causing a 48% increase in the next 3 years?…if you like that just bend over and prepare for this to happen 66 more times with just the water pipe replacement program?…while the CCO is supportive of and an advocate for these updates, we are very concerned that the people who live in Evansville will be run out of town by the costs associated with doing them?

Todays“Readers Poll” question is: Do you think the voters will elect three individuals from the same business to serve on the Evansville City Council?

Republicans Must Reject “Russia Hoax” Conspiracies and Examine the Evidence

CONSERVATIVE Writer Debunks Pro-Trump FBI Conspiracy Theory In Devastating Rebuke Of The Republican Party

In their desperation to insulate President Donald Trump from the fallout of the Russia investigation, the Republican Party has woven an elaborate counternarrative in which the act of investigating Russia is the real scandal. And David French, writer for the arch-conservative National Review, is finally calling out this mentality on the right

“It’s time to put a conspiracy theory to rest. It’s time to debunk a hoax”

The GOP narrative goes that the investigation, first started by the FBI and taken up by special counsel Robert Mueller, is a “witch hunt” manufactured by Obama administration officials to bring down Trump. That the investigation of the campaign was illegal and the warrant to surveil it obtained using partisan material. That Trump officials are being prosecuted over “perjury traps” rather than anything of substance. And that Mueller’s team is saddled with conflicts of interest that will render any findings tainted

There is NO evidence to support any of this. But not only is Trump and the Fox News punditry spreading this narrative, it has formed the basis for a series of frivolous investigations by House Republicans with time and resources that could have been spent to pursue Russia

“The idea that the FBI used the Russia investigation to intervene in the election to hurt Trump and help Clinton has always strained credulity. After all, the Russia investigation remained secret during the election while the FBI not only public reopened the Hillary email investigation, it also confirmed the existence of an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation and exposed rifts with the Obama Department of Justice, casting the FBI as heroically resisting Obama-administration pressure to avoid any ‘overt steps’ in the Clinton Foundation investigation during the campaign”

Furthermore, contrary to the idea that Mueller is using “perjury traps” the investigation has already uncovered damning information, including Trump’s former attorney lying to Congress about Trump’s Russia contacts, Trump’s son having a meeting in Trump Tower with a lawyer linked to the Kremlin during the election, Trump’s campaign manager having ties to a known Russian asset, and two campaign advisers having backchannels to Russia via foreign sources. And all of this took place against the context of Trump saying “I have nothing to do with Russia. To the best of my knowledge, no person that I deal with does”

“In less partisan times, these contacts would generate far more bipartisan concern. Even now, they should at the very least demolish the worst of the pro-Trump conspiracy theories”

“As in all investigations, the FBI and every other relevant arm of the federal government should be held to account when it departs from law or policy. If elements of the Trump investigation were tainted by partisan bias, we need to know. But, at this point, claims that the investigation itself is inherently illegitimate should be dismissed”

“The Trump team has surrounded the truth of its dealings with Russia with a bodyguard of lies. Not a single American should find that acceptable or excusable. Let’s find the truth and confront it fearlessly. No other approach will provide the justice and transparency America needs”

    • Follow the money on the Russian collusion allegations:
      ………………………
THE REAL COLLUSION: Obama’s FBI Paid More on Russian Dirt and Fake News in 2016 Election Than Russia Did

Pichai was called in to explain Google business practices including data collection and targeting of conservative voices.

During questioning Pichai dashed the hopes of Democrats everywhere when he admitted Russia spent only $4,700 on advertisements during the 2016 election.
Which is next to nothing… In a campaign where Hillary Clinton spent nearly a billion dollars!

Russia also paid around $70,000 on Facebook ads to attract both Trump and Hillary supporters. Russia spent around $6,000 on Facebook ads the last six weeks of the election which had no effect on the election.

So we are looking at a total of around $75,000 spent by Russia to run ads on US social media during the 2016 election — both to promote Hillary AND Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, the FBI spent much more for Russian dirt than Russia paid on collusion.

The FBI picked up the tab for the Steele dossier along with the DNC and Hillary campaign. The FBI paid Christopher Steele’s travel and other expenses while he was putting together his slanderous dossier on Trump.

The Clinton campaign paid DNC lawyer Marc Elias and his law firm Perkins Coie paid Fusion GPS and later denied knowledge of the same dossier they paid for.

And the FBI paid Michael Steele from Fusion GPS $160,000 for travel expenses while he was digging up dirt for his fake dossier.

      • What a joke. Every link on this idiots website is a link back to the same website. Not a SHRED of evidence

But after reading this crap, we can see where your new favorite tagline is from since the bottom shows “You won’t see THAT in the liberal mainstream news anytime soon!”

  2. Don’t look for this to be reported in the liberal mainstream media:

“The mainstream press is once again silent after the president of a socialist South African political party called for the deaths of white people.

“You kill one of us, we kill five white people,” shouted Andile Mngxitama at a Saturday rally where he called for revolution. “We kill their children, we kill their women, we kill their dogs, we kill their cats, we kill anything we find in our way.”

Mngxitama is the president of South Africa’s socialist Black First Land First Party (BFL).”

    • Yet the right-wing media ignores how more Trump lawyers are in bed with dictators and those committing human-rights atrocities in the hopes of currying favor with Trump

TARGETS OF U.S. SANCTIONS HIRE LOBBYISTS WITH TRUMP TIES

Rudy Giuliani, President Trump’s personal lawyer, attended a reception hosted by the Democratic Republic of Congo’s special envoy in July. Clearly an endorsement of the country’s government, which was facing threats of additional sanctions for human rights abuses and corruption.

“At least eight people were killed and a dozen altar boys arrested in the Democratic Republic of Congo after security forces cracked down on planned church protests against President Joseph Kabila’s refusal to leave office”

“Several senior officials in President Joseph Kabila’s government were hit with sanctions this week by the European Union and the United States for “planning, directing or committing” serious human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of Congo”

Then there is Trump lawyer Alan Dershowitz. He has repeatedly criticized special counsel’s investigation of Trump. But Dershowitz also has a long history of representing clients in transnational legal matters, including sanctions.

“Dershowitz is advising Dan Gertler, an Israeli billionaire who was the target of sanctions by Washington last year for using his connections to Mr. Kabila, the Congolese president, to facilitate what the Treasury Department called “opaque and corrupt mining and oil deals”

TWO TOP LAWYERS SAY IT’S TIME FOR TRUMP TO RESIGN

Two top lawyers say it is now time for Trump to negotiate a plea deal and resign from office in order to minimize his legal liability

Both former U.S. Solicitor General Neal Katyal and former chief White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter reached the same conclusion yesterday after more evidence was disclosed making clear that Donald Trump was guilty of committing at least one felony, and probably several more

Katyal wrote a lengthy piece for The New York Times that explained in detail the legal problems facing Trump. He made clear that there were only two choices for prosecutors now: either indict him and charge him with the crimes or turn over all of their evidence to the U.S. House of Representatives. And he also said that the Constitution would require the House to proceed with impeachment proceedings if prosecutors decline to indict the president

Ultimately all of the evidence about Trump’s crimes will come out, either in a federal court or in a House impeachment trial

Then Katyal wrote that Trump’s lawyers would have to explain the gravity of the legal jeopardy he is facing, saying:

“Trump may therefore conclude, as Spiro Agnew did before him, that he has one card left to play: resign and plea to avoid jail time”

The situation is more urgent because Mueller’s recent filings seem to indicate that Vice President Mike Pence could be indicted soon

Painter, who served in the George W. Bush administration also said yesterday that Trump’s defense lawyers need to negotiate a plea agreement ASAP. He pointed out that Trump’s crimes were more serious, and would result in larger penalties, than Cohen’s, so the president should resign to minimize his exposure

“That doesn’t even include whatever Bob Mueller comes up with respect to Russia and obstruction of justice and the crimes that were committed there. Trump is in serious trouble. His lawyers ought to be telling him to negotiate a plea deal”

“It’s time to negotiate a comprehensive plea deal for Trump. Include federal and state charges, reduced charges in return for his resignation”

And then as a final note the top ethics lawyer clarified the situation that Donald Trump is in right now:

“It’s quite clear his goose is cooked here”

Richard Painter and Neal Katyal are right: the best thing for Donald Trump, and for the country, is for him to resign as soon as he possibly can

  4. Let me guess Frank McDonald II is going to return and run for First Ward City Councilman.

  5. “…expecting that Missy Mosby and D’Angelo Tayor will officially announce…”
    Tayor or Taylor?

  6. Posters Rinald Reagan and Joe Biden: Do they get to follow rules that the rest of us don’t? Like keeping on topic?
Really administrator, this has gotten out of hand.

  7. Agree with OldMustangMan. Not on topic. Maybe allow RR and JB their own article area that we can skip 😉
