IS IT TRUE we find it extremely interesting that Council Finance Chairman Dan McGinn publicly  stated  that the city employees Medical Clinic located at the Civic Center is free?  …the real truth is that taxpayers of this community are paying many hundred of thousands of dollars each year to make available medical services  free of charge to city employees?  … if council closed the Civic Center Medical Clinic they could take the many hundred of thousand of dollars and put the money towards the City employees Health Care plan in turn would help make the premium lower?

IS IT TRUE  two Superior Court Judges are running for re-election in Vanderburgh County unopposed?  …the Honorable Judge Robert Pigman is running in Division #3 and the Honorable Judge Richard G. D’Amour is running in Division #7?  …were glad they are unopposed because that have done an outstanding job and we hope that they will receive a big complimentary vote for a job well done?

IS IT TRUE it looks like U S Senate candidate Evan Bayh vote for OBAMACARE may be taking a  toll on his campaign?  …the issue of his legal residence is also causing him political problems?  …Todd Young has Bayh on the run?   … this race could be determine during the last days of the campaign?

IS IT TRUE  the race for County Coroner is becoming very interesting because of the aggressive and in your face behavior of Brian Claspell towards Assistant County Coroner Steve Lockyear?  …Mr. Lockyear is respected by people from both sides of the political isle?  …Its obvious that Mr. Claspell has a political tiger by the tail?

IS IT TRUE the deadline for filing for Vanderburgh County School Board is upon us?  …Karen Ragland, Terry Gamblin and Jeffrey Worthington are they only individuals filing so far?  …Its  hard to imagine  that the above School Board members are running unopposed since we have several elementary schools  with failing grades?

IS IT TRUE the race for State Representative District #78 between Holly Sullivan (R) and Phillip Bennett (D) is  Mrs. Sullivan to lose?  …Holly is well respected on the State level and enjoy a strong popularity among the voters in her District?

IS IT TRUE the word at the Civic Center is that Shannon Edwards is given Debbie Stuck the political fight of her career?  … many people are saying that a major upset in the County Recorder race is looming?

IS IT TRUE the race for Clerk Of The Circuit Court is hard to gage?  …Carla Haydan (R) and Zachary Heronemus (D) are well known and liked by the employees at the Civic Center?  …both candidates are experienced in government and either one would do a credible job if elected County Clerk?  …the supporters of Connie Carrier are the political wild card in this race?  …its possible that Connie Carrier supporters could determine who is elected the next Vanderburgh County Clerk?

IS IT TRUE we are hearing the race between Johnny Kincaid (R) and Ryan Hatfield (D) for State Representative is to close to call?  …both candidates are laid back but personable?… Mr. Kincaid has put a lot of time and energy in the 2nd and 4th wards?

IS IT TRUE the race between Sean Selby (R) and Ben Shoulders (D) for District #1 County Commissioner is  becoming interesting to watch?  …both gentleman are very intelligent and likable?  …we are hearing that this race could be determined by the rural voters?

IS IT TRUE the race between Steve Melcher (D) and Cheryl Musgrave (R) for District #3 County Commissioner is gearing up to become a real political barn burner?  …this race is to close to call?

IS IT TRUE that many non-governmental people met with Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State who gave money  to the Clinton Foundation?   …the media is reporting that around 90 donors contributed as much as $160 million, 40 plus people donated more than $100,000 each and about 20 other people gave more than $1 million  to the Clinton Foundation?

    The Alt Right is on the march. Trump’s their man. They are trying to take hate mainstream. Pull up those jackboots and enjoy it while you can, it’s getting ready to go back underground in a couple of months. They’ll still have the Clinton family to kick around for several more years.

    The Republicans had every opportunity to do something to ensure health care for all Americans, they did nothing. Hillary tried in 1993 and was stopped by the same people who have since attacked her relentlessly at every turn. She persevered, got rich and will make us a fine president. Once in office she can expand the ACA and tweak it to make it even better. Trump is the screaming, bigoted and depraved face of hate. Dose him with a landslide that would embarrass a normal human and send him back to his gilded tower.

    All the baseless attacks on Clinton and now her family and their foundation only serve to show what the national Republican party has become: a racist, corporate owned entity fueled by people like Dead Breitbart’s Steve Bannon. Their message will always have people eager to sign on to the ‘movement’. They are generally few and marginal. Their stridency is way out of proportion to their numbers. They must be smacked down every time they groundhog up.

    Trump is in the process of abandoning his immigration policy. That bundle of hate that was the cornerstone of his presidential run. He has left his followers hanging out there, looking like fools. They do not care. They probably do not even know.

    • What is an Alt Conservative? That term seems to have come into vogue faster than Pokeman Go did.

      As for Trump’s changes to his immigration stance, if this newer and saner policy is to be believed, it is vastly superior to rounding up 12 million people for deportation. There is nothing wrong with change that makes improvements.

      Our politicians should all be more receptive to changing things that are not working. Hanging on to archaic destructive policies is one of the biggest problems government has. Hillary should pay attention to this apparent constructive change and make some herself.

        • That is your opinion. I am just encouraged on the low probability that Trump become president that maybe he is wising up and improving his intentions.

          As for changing 180 degrees what are your thoughts on Hillary’s flip flops? The one in particular that bothers me is her gold standard declaration on the Trans Pacific Trade deal was tossed to the curb in favor of pandering to the head in the sand club that thinks we can live in isolation.

          I remain firmly convinced that there is not one decent candidate running on a major party platform. Trump and Hillary drive that home daily. Just this morning one of Hillary’s surrogates was on Morning Joe claiming that “aids will not be cured if the Clinton Foundation is taken out of Clinton control”. Talk about pathetic, that’s right up there with “Colin Powell made me put in an illegal home brew server”.

          When these two POS do something sane they need to be encouraged and that is what I did with Trumps stand on immigration.

        • I am planning to vote for Gary Johnson and have been making contributions to his campaign. The odds of him winning are long but I have to be able to live with the man in the mirror, and I can’t if I cast a vote for either of the major party candidates.       • I’m sure he is indeed very familiar with softening. If he’d just harden up long enough to say what his current immigration policy is, his public, so eager for even the thinnest peg to hang their hats on, wouldn’t have to keep guessing. Their blind and uninformed defenses of him would have a tad more credibility, their false analogies between him and Hillary never will. His campaign is not saying, he’s not saying. They do say he’ll be giving a ‘policy speech’ on immigration in a week or so. If he ever does come clean his pronouncement will only be good for a week or so.

        The way it stands now it’s giving rise to a lot of unfounded conjecture. He does seem to be on the verge of rolling it back — ‘softening’ as he and his various wives and concubines might put it. It is a softening not born of any laudable motives, just the flailings of a tanking candidate hoping for Putin to roll into the Ukraine.

        Drumpf needs to get his doctor to prescribe him some political Viagra.

One of the favorite things about Donald Trump’s nonexistent “pivot” from the primaries to the general election is that, for somebody who thinks he’s such a salesman, he sure doesn’t know the first thing about his target audience. Oh, the toilet-water-drinking heathens who make up Trump’s base during the primaries absolutely love racist, homophobic shit like Breitbart dot com, but normal people in the general populace? Nah. Urban moderate Republicans who can’t believe Trump is literally their party’s choice for president? Hell no, they read the Wall Street Journal and listen to NPR, occasionally stopping to tut-tut at the silly liberals on the other side of the radio waves. They do not read Breitbart.

    So when Stephen Bannon stepped aside as head of Breitbart News to be Donald Trump’s new Work Wife, the Democrats obviously saw an opportunity. “Holy LOLs, y’all!” they must have said to each other. “Breitbart is literally the racist, spittle-flecked underbelly of the entire right wing internet, but we bet a lot of normal people out there have no freaking idea what it is, or how utterly terrible it is. We should tell them about Breitbart!” That is probably how that conversation went. And thus a political ad was born!

Johnson’s views are not conservative on abortion, marriage, religious freedom, and immigration. But even if they were, he is not going to be president. So you and your “Johnson come lately” never Trump cohorts are voting against the one in whom you r conservative values will fair best. As long as I have known Joe Wallace he has leaned libertarian and his values would fair best under Johnson. Not so with you.   10. Your first paragraph may be a little misleading, Editor.

    Yes, taxpayers are footing the bill for the clinic and the services it provides. However, the alternative is for employees to head to their private doctors office or the ER for the routine of things that employees see the clinic for. Instead of the city picking up the tab for an employees kid being taken to the ER for strep throat, for example, they are basically paying the clinic a flat fee to provide the same service. Also, you can routinely get into the clinic within a few days, instead of having to wait a month to get in and see your private doctor. Quicker diagnosis and treatment of routine issues may mean those issues don’t grow into something more serious, and more serious almost always equals more expensive when it comes to medical issues.

    Finally, the clinic does quite a bit of a routine blood work and other tests, and keeping track of these things more easily will probably mean an employee can do a better job of handling any chronic medical conditions they may have. Again, that probably equals a long term cost savings to the city.

    To summarize, having a convenient one stop shop for routine medical conditions is obviously not ‘free’, but, in my opinion, ultimately does provide substantial cost savings to our taxpayers. Any cost savings from closing down the clinic would no doubt be rapidly consumed by employees having to go out of pocket to receive the same services on their own.

    • The tax payer is paying for it, but the taxpayer can not access it. In what way is it saving us money when the employee’s insurance would pay for it or the employee pays a deductible like everyone else?

        • Maybe, but how is the taxpayer getting “more bang for the buck” by paying for what we would have to pay for with insurance our our deductible? Looks like the city is getting the bang for our bucks.

          • I’m not sure I follow you I E. The city is self insured, which means that city dollars are paying for employee medical treatment. Since it costs a lot more money to pay for employees trip to the ER then it costs for them to go to the city clinic, the same medical condition gets paid for more cheaply.

            City employees pay insurance premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs just like any other person does who is enrolled in any other insurance plan.

            Are the premiums paid to the city? If they are self insured then why is there talk of increasing the employee’s share?

            Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but it appears to me that the city’s health insurance is through an underwriter not self insured.

    Two events that our local government has no control over and can not scr** them up!

    Of coarse, capitalism is at work here. Gas price shoots up at least 25 cents even though commodity prices in this trading has remained flat! Hotel/motel room rates went to “special event’ pricing even though they are receiving the same service as regular rates. Hotel/motel staff will be paid same rate and not a “special event” rate as well!

Gov. candidate, Suzanne Crouch, it indicates the kind of margins statewide that I’ve heard the internal polls are showing are correct. Holcomb is toast!
