Dr. Bucshon Participates in Legislative Hearing on Obamacare Repeal and Replace Bill

Starting now, Eighth District Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. participates in a Congressional hearing on legislation introduced this week to repeal Obamacare and replace it with patient-centered reforms that drive down costs and expand access to care.

The American Health Care Act was introduced in the House of Representatives this week and will be debated today in hearings held by the Energy and Commerce Committee, which Dr. Bucshon is a member of, and the Ways and Means Committee.

“Obamacare is failing by just about every measure. Out-of-pocket costs are skyrocketing for families and choices are being limited as insurers continue to drop out.  If we don’t act now, the law will almost certainly collapse and leave patients across the country with nowhere to go. As a physician who spent my career caring for patients, I firmly believe that inaction would be irresponsible and immoral. So we’re on a rescue mission,” said Bucshon.

“This week, we introduced our legislation, the American Health Care Act, to deliver relief to millions of Americans struggling under the Obamacare disaster. Our legislation helps drive down costs, expand access to quality, affordable care, and upholds critical patient protections like coverage for preexisting conditions. It ensures that no one will have the rug pulled out from under them, but also doesn’t send the IRS after patients who make the choice to not buy insurance.

“Today’s hearing is a step forward in this open, transparent process to get a final bill to President Trump’s desk. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House, the Senate, and the Trump Administration to deliver on our promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.”

The hearing, which kicked off shortly after 10:30am ET, can be viewed live here:https://goo.gl/qOAvTv.
