  1. I’m guessing the editors will not be on the Mayor’s christmas card list. Just a guess.

  2. Wayne I really like the cartoon of you. You’re really a handsome guy when drawn up as a cartoon character.

  3. I think it’s really sad, to be honest. All of these people are nice people outside politics, but this uniform lockstep with the Administration is a side effect of the system they are a part of.

The appointed bureaucratic positions represented by the likes of Mr. Hooper, Mr. Hafer, and Mr. Warren are ALWAYS going to side with the Administration. That’s just a part of the job, and one reason why I believe we should try to reduce the size and power of bureaucracies. For instance, there is no reasons the Mayor should be able to approach anyone but the City Council and get money for projects. Ever. The purpose of the Council is to hold the purse strings.

As for some of the other like Wayne Parke… I just don’t know what he was thinking. He took what amounts to a progressive liberal stance on this issue and as the Chairman of the “conservative” Party he expects no push back for that? That’s just sheer madness. I will reiterate I think he is a nice man, but he made a BIG mistake here and gave the local Party a huge black eye. He should have remained neutral or come out questioning the deal. Instead, he positioned himself as one of the head cheerleaders. He might as well have been in a miniskirt atop a human pyramid.

    • Let me revise my above statement. I don’t think ALL these people are nice people. A couple who shall remain nameless are pretty much assholes.

  4. Didn’t 5 of them just commit to voting AGAINST the mayor’s project? How does this cartoon make sense now?

    • Not only are you an elitist apparently you are an idiot as well. None of the five council members who are voting against this are in the picture.

Please tell me you’re not really a lawyer.

    • Sorry we did not have our cartoonist put name tags on the puppets. Most of them are not members of the city council. Maybe we should have a name the puppets contest.

      • Lets see… Back row: ???, Gillenwater,Hafer, Ziemer, Parke
Front row: Abell, Weaver, Mosby, Warren, Hooper

I’m missing one, if not two.

        • what about Russ Lloyd Jr. ? Why does he get a pass ? What about Mark Rolley ? What about Alan Mounts ?

Hello, Nicknackery: we need more puppets !

  5. 1) Who is the lady in front row, far left ?

    2) Can someone name the entire back row ?

    Thanks,

    Donald

  6. There should be another cartoon.

One of 3 card monte with Winneke as the dealer.

Wayne, the C&P, and the unions would be the shills who convince “the mark” i.e. the taxpayers that they can pick the right card and “win”. Mosby and Weaver should be the “lookouts”. The cards should be marked “Innkeepers Tax” “TIF” “Food and Beverage Tax”.

The stand should be portrayed at being the corner of Walnut and MLK with the Ford Center as the backdrop.

O’Daniel, Friend, and Riley can be the cops who barge in and break up the game.

    • Your correct. Mr. McGinn is the biggest “puppet” and “yes man” the Mayor has. I’m sorry I voted for him. He won’t get my vote the next time.

  7. IMHO
A show of support for those courageous City Council members who have shed the administration’s strings and chosen to represent the electorate tonight by voting “NO” would be more timely, effective and in better taste. …

  8. The cartoon is appropriate but the person controling the strings (Geppetto) is not the Mayor. We change Mayors and the results are the same? Why?
People who have lived in Evansville long enough know the Mayor is just another puppet of an elite group of people controlling Evansville politics. Just look at what is happening with the changes to the hotel proposal today.

Unfortunatly, unlike Pinocchio, when they lie their noses don’t grow.

    • Very wise. These people have controlled for so long that they think it is not only their right but their responsibility.

I also agree with bubbageek. Those council members who have had the intelligence and the courage to think and analyze on their own to vote for the citizens of Evansville and not the monied few should be recognized.

    • You are spot on. The Mayor is really the puppet who told what to do. There are people in the business community who control the money in this town and money controls the mayor. Remember they all need to have money to run for office and to stay in office requires supporters (city employees, county employees) and money people.
