We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE that former Vanderburgh County Sheriff  Brad Ellsworth and Eric Williams, Vanderburgh County Commissioner Ben Shoulders and Old National Bank President and CEO Bob Jones hosted an impressive political fundraiser for the current United States Senator Joe Donnelly (D) last weekend at Just Rennie’s?

IS IT TRUE that this political fundraiser raised a bunch of money for the re-election committee of United States Senator Joe Donelly (D)?

IS IT TRUE we are told that this event clearly demonstrates that the local Democrat party of Vanderburgh County is starting to make a political come back?  …that former Mayors Mike Vanderveer and Mayor Jonathon Wienzapfel, a large contingency from local labor unions and many other Democratic party movers and shakers attended this big-ticket political event?

IS IT TRUE we were also told that there were several well known Republicans that attended the political fundraiser for the incumbent United States Senator from Indiana?

IS IT TRUE we been told that the United States Senatorial candidate Mike Braun’s (R) political handlers are predicting that he will win Vanderburgh County by a couple of percentage points?  …we are told if anyone from Mike Braun’s campaign committee would have attended the Shoulders, Ellsworth, Williams, and Jones sponsored political fundraisers for the United States Senator Joe Donelly (D) they may re-evaluate their prediction?

IS IT TRUE we are told that several people are wondering why DMD isn’t doing some street and sidewalks renovations in the Center City and West Franklin Street areas?  …they would also like for the DMD to give facade grants to existing businesses and low-interest loans to develop loft apartments in the Center City and  West Franklin Street area?

IS IT TRUE recently Saratoga Race Track and Casino recently purchased Ellis Park for an undisclosed amount of money? …at a recent news conference held at Ellis Park, the individuals representing the owners of Saratoga Race Track and Casino pledged that they are going to immediately address the obvious maintenance issues in order to make the track and casino more modern and customer friendly? …this is great news for the regular patrons at Ellis Park?

It would be very helpful for the campaigns of each Mr. Donelly and Mr. Braun to each submit to the CCO their platforms and how they would attempt to handle the affairs of the office so voters can decide whom more closely aligns with their values and vision for the Country. Negative attack ads are pretty useless to the more savvy voter and I believe and the ability for voters to potentially align themselves with a candidate (versus a letter D/R) would be helpful. JMO…

Attempted to comment this am but the text isn’t here so I must have erred somewhere… I would like to see the CCO contact both campaigns to get the ideas proposed by Mr. Donnely and Mr. Braun in black and white. Voters can then discern whom they more closely share values and ideas of our how to positively impact Country’s future without the label of a D or R behind the name. JMO…

  7. Having Brad Ellsworth and Eric Williams support a candidate is like losing 10% of your voting base. Thanks to Brad being a Pelosi Lapdog helped put our current and superior congressman in office. Brad is a negative endorsement to any candidate running for office. Remember he voted for Obamacare which raised the price of healthcare so much that seniors are taking bankruptcy at the highest level in history. Democrats care for no one but themselves. Sorry to see ONB get caught up in the corruption of the democrat party, maybe time to move to German American.

      • Close race but Balderson will pull through. Republicans are cruising, democrats will go out to win. No need to waste energy this early in the game. Hope the courier and other news outlets do big writeups about the ONB CEO coming out for sanctuary cities, open borders, anti 1st and 2nd amendments, encouraging and supporting unlimited unvetted illegal immigration, because that’s exactly what you are doing when you support democrats. This might be a good thing for German American bank. People of Evansville need to be aware that some of their most trusted institutions have turned against them. Don’t vote to bring Obamacare back, don’t let liberal democrats fool you again.

  8. Interesting observation today. I go pass a house on the eastside a few times a week, has a Proud Union Home sign out front. Always noticed the cars, a couple of KIA’s, none union cars. Today noticed they were having a new roof put on their house, the crew had a couple of well used old vehicles and appeared to be Mexicans. So much for the great union brotherhood.

  9. It would be interesting to know who the Republics were? I’m sure Winnecke showed up as a courtesy, he is a little left of center. As far as the democrats making a come back, that is a great possibility because socialism has made great strides in the last couple of years. I’ll say one thing for the democrats, they are really pulling out their wallets. Are they pulling out their wallets for Tanoos? I know they’re putting the money up for Hatfield, there’s a lot of loose money going to be available with the new jail funding.
