    Evansville, IN – The Vanderburgh County Health Department (VCHD) will be providing free COVID-19 vaccinations at the following sites and events during the week of September 27, 2021:

    Thursday, September 30, 2021
    9 AM – 12 PM Mobile Unit Free Vaccines Walmart Neighborhood Market 3430 Taylor Avenue
    Saturday, October 2, 2021
    12 PM – 4 PM ParksFest Garvin Park 1600 North Main Street

     

    In addition to its Tuesday and Thursday vaccination clinics at area retailers, Grocery Outlet and the Walmart Neighborhood Market, VCHD will offer mobile clinics at three other locations this week.

    Monday, September 27, Ivy Tech will host a vaccination clinic in the first floor Commons area of the Koch Student Center from 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM.  Anyone attending the clinic is asked to enter the building through Entrance C, which can be found on the north parking lot off Colonial Avenue.

    On Wednesday, September 29, the VCHD Pre to 3 Program is hosting a Family Fall Fest at Wesselman Woods.  The event will feature food, games and prizes.  Along with the COVID-19 vaccine, other standard immunizations including Tdap, and the Flu Shot will be available.  Families are asked to register in advance by calling 812-435-2400.

    Finally, the VCHD Mobile Unit will be offering COVID-19 vaccines from 12 PM – 4 PM at ParksFest, a free, all-day music festival in Evansville’s Garvin Park.  One of the area’s premiere entertainment events, ParksFest 2021 will feature Grammy award-winning entertainment, local artists, food and drink, along with activities for the whole family.  For more information, click here.

    Free “Back the Vax” merchandise including towels, water bottles, hand sanitizer and more, are available and will be passed out during clinic hours.

    Individuals who are recommended to receive a third dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine can obtain that booster at any of the VCHD vaccination sites. The third dose must be given at least 28 days after the second.

     

    People that are moderately to severely immunocompromised include:

    1. Recipients of organ or stem cell transplant
    2. People with advanced or untreated HIV
    3. People currently undergoing cancer treatment
    4. People taking certain medications that suppress their immune system
    5. Moderate to severe primary immune-deficiency (such as DiGeorge Syndrome or Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)

     

    A doctor’s order is not needed for these individuals to receive their third dose.
