Evansville – Newburgh, IN – State Rep. Tim O’Brien, House District 78 (which includes portions of Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties) filed for reelection with the Secretary of State’s office on Monday. O’Brien, a Republican from Evansville, serves on the House Ways and Means and the House Election and Apportionment committees.

“I will continue to promote good public policy to move Indiana forward while protecting and improving the lives of all Hoosiers. It’s an absolute honor to represent the citizens of Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties at the Statehouse,” O’Brien said. “I’m running to provide leadership on important issues that affect our community, such as the rising cost of health care, infrastructure needs, small business growth and protecting individual rights. I’m proud of the legislation I’ve worked on and voted for and I will continue to best represent the needs of Southwest Indiana.”

Some of O’Brien’s priorities include attracting and retaining talent in the workforce, holding the line on taxes, and supporting law enforcement, first responders, and veterans. O’Brien said he believes in conservative principles and is a strong defender of the Second Amendment and the rights of unborn children.

“Republican leadership continues to deliver wins for all Hoosiers and I look forward to continuing to advocate for conservative ideals in the legislature,” O’Brien said. “Indiana has proven we can grow our economy, invest in infrastructure and fund much-needed programs while cutting taxes and paying off liabilities. We can continue to live within our means while making sound investments to move Indiana forward in the future.”

O’Brien is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, as a University Honors Scholar. He works as a real estate broker with F.C. Tucker Emge Realtors and represents consumers in and around the Evansville area.

O’Brien is a 2019 recipient of the Courier & Press/Tri-State Business Journal 20 Under 40 award and has been featured as a member of the Next Generation of Leaders in Evansville Business magazine. In 2019, he served as the President of the Southwest Indiana Association of Realtors.

O’Brien volunteers with many organizations and serves on numerous boards including the City of Evansville’s Land Bank Corp. Board of Directors. He serves as a Heritage Federal Credit Union Board of Directors member and is currently holding an officer role, serving as the Board Treasurer.

O’Brien served as a Delegate to the Indiana State Republican Party convention in 2020, representing Vanderburgh County, and is currently serving as Secretary on the Vanderburgh County Republican Party central committee and as an elected Precinct Committeeman for HD 78.
