Attorney General Todd Rokita springs into action to support consumers by raising awareness of harmful household products recalled in April

0

Attorney General Todd Rokita is alerting Hoosiers of important consumer protection concerns for products recalled in April. The office encourages consumers to take advantage of opportunities available for those who purchase recalled items that could be harmful to their families.

“Keeping children and Hoosiers safe is my top priority,” Attorney General Rokita said. “If you have one of the recalled products, stop using it immediately and pursue resolution from the manufacturer. If you have difficulty finding a solution for your recalled product, call my office immediately.”

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the following consumer products were recalled in April:

If you believe you recently purchased a recalled product, stop using it, and check its recall notice (linked above for all products). Then follow the notice’s instructions, including where to return the product, how to get the product fixed, how to dispose of the product, how to receive a refund for the product, or what steps must be taken to receive a replacement product.

To view recalls issued prior to April visit the Consumer Protection Safety Commission website.

Helping Hoosiers with their mental health

0

May marks Mental Health Awareness Month and it’s an important time to learn more and spread the word about mental health resources that Indiana has to offer.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a 24/7 open care line for those seeking support for mental health, substance use or suicidal thoughts. By texting or calling 988, Hoosiers can talk with a trained mental health professional.

Another free and confidential program is the Be Well Crisis Helpline, connecting Hoosiers with resources, counseling and assessments for many mental health issues including stress, anxiety and loneliness. To reach a trained counselor, call 211 or visit in.gov/BeWellIndiana.

The National Helpline offers helpful tools and educational guidelines for identifying and addressing suicidal warning signs. They also offer referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups and community-based organizations. To learn more about the referrals and educational tools the National Helpline offers, call 1-800-662-HELP (4357) or click here.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, I encourage you to reach out to one of the many resources available. It’s estimated that 400,000 Hoosiers have a mental illness that’s gone untreated. That’s why on the state level, I’ll continue to support expanding availability and access to affordable treatment and services, which is critical to helping those who are suffering.
