Roscoe is a huge staff/volunteer favorite at the Vanderburgh Humane Society. He’s a male black & white Lab/hound mix. He was transferred in from Evansville Animal Control, so VHS has no background information on him at all. He’s currently healing from an undiagnosed skin condition (it is not mange, but may be some type of allergy.) He also appears to have some hip problems that may require surgery, X-rays, or therapy. Roscoe definitely needs a special family that can give him the care that he needs. He’s friendly with other dogs, cats, small animals, people, and loves car rides and walks well on a leash! IS IT TRUE that Finance Chairman Dan McGinn asked City Council attorney to draft an ordinance that would reduce the Homestead Property Tax Credit from 8 percent to 6 percent for 2017? …the self proclaimed 1st Ward fiscal conservative McGinn also announced he wants to see the Homestead Property Tax Credit depleted by 2 percent every year “until it’s all gone.”?  …we wonder if the homeowners of Evansville are going to allow McGinn,, the Mayor and City Council to take our Homestead Property Tax Credit from us?

IS IT TRUE at the last City Council meeting Finance Chairman Dan McGinn stated that the current budget problems were caused by the spending practices of City Council over the last 12 years? …wasn’t Mr. McGinn a member of the Evansville City Council for 5 out of the last 12 years?  …it looks like by Mr. McGinn’s own admission that he has been a part of the major deficit spending practices of City Council?

IS IT TRUE we wonder when Councilman McGinn was the Zoo Director did he ever experience any unexpected cost overruns on budgeted items or on capital projects?

IS IT TRUE we hear that Vanderburgh County Council members will determine that there will not be any increases in the Employee Health Care costs for 2017?  …they originally budgeted for a 12-percent increase in the 2017 Employee Health Care costs?  …the reason why County Council were able to achieve the no increases in Employee Health Care costs for 2017 is because they aren’t self insured like the City of Evansville?

IS IT TRUE it’s alleged that Missy Mosby had big rats run between her toes while doing some City Council duties somewhere in the 2nd Ward?  …Ms. Mosby wouldn’t have this problem if she would take a bag of Dry Ice with her while doing her 2nd Ward Council duties?

IS IT TRUE that Chicago also has a major rat problem?  …that Chicago has unleashed a chilling killer for the war against urban rats?  …the new weapon is Dry Ice? …Dry Ice is deadly to small animals if inhaled in high concentrations?  …once inhaled the rats become asphyxiated decompose on site?  …its alleged that burrows in Chicago that are using Dry Ice are seeing about a 60% reduction in the rat population?

IS IT TRUE that At-Large City Councilwoman Michelle Mercer has learned a new word?  …the word is CONSTITUENTS?  ...we wonder who she picked this word up from?

IS IT TRUE a CCO poster named DarkLight posted the following comment we feel worth reposting?  …DarkLight said:  “The city needs to get serious about reducing expenses with creative solutions. Eliminating the Homestead credit and increasing the county option income tax is a simplistic solution to rising costs. How about reducing the expenses”?  …he also said: “The city’s health insurance plan should align with comparable plans in the public and private sector where cadillac plans were phased out long ago. Deductibles and co-pays need to balance the excessive health care subsidy that has grown without check”?  …can you believe that he also stated that  “Pass an incremental cost increase on to city employees rather than incremental tax increases to the average taxpayer who has no say on decreasing the exponential costs in city government. Finally, eliminate health insurance coverage for part time employees, i.e., city council, et. al”  …we think this post make a heck of lot of sense?

IS IT TRUE we searched the 2017 proposed City budget breakdown to see what the  free City/County Employee Health Clinic actually costs the taxpayers?  …we are told by a credible source that this alleged free clinic costs the taxpayers of Vanderburgh County well over a million dollars a year? …it looks like former Mayor Weinzapfel’s prediction that this free clinic would save taxpayers many millions of dollars over the years is totally incorrect?

IS IT TRUE the Vanderburgh County Township trustees are asking for the burial costs to be increased from $2,000 to $3,000 for 2017?  …the Township Trustees claim that the reason for the big increase is that local funeral homes have asked for this big increase this year is to provide burial assistance to those who financially can’t afford to do so?  …we wonder when was the last time our elected officials did an audit on this fund?

IS IT TRUE last week 3rd Ward City Councilwoman Anna Hargis CPA recently contacted former City Councilman John Friend CPA to ask him to explain to her  a few items in the proposed 2017 budget? …Mr. Friend CPA explained to Ms. Hargis that the Employee Health Care costs are going to be catastrophic to the 2017 budget and she went into panic mode? …it’s obvious that the most qualify person on Council that can figure out the extremely complicated information listed in the draft of the proposed 2017 city budget is Anne Hargis CPA?  …we hope that Ms Hargis will come forward with reasonable, creative and obtainable ways to attack the major deficit spending practices of past and present city council?  …its time for Finance Chairman McGinn to stop his meat as approach to cutting the 2017 budget and let Ms. Hargis give her opinions how to address impending budget crisis in a well thought out manner?

At this point in the race, as his poll numbers are surging and Hillary Clinton is dealing with the negative fallout over her health scare and continual lying; only the media can stop Donald Trump from being elected the next President of the United States.

The media will have multiple opportunities in upcoming debates, featuring mostly liberal moderators. In fact, in an interview this week with the Washington Post, Trump questioned the impartiality of CNN’s Anderson Cooper. According to Trump, Anderson is “very biased, very biased. I don’t think he should be a moderator.” Trump also said that Cooper cannot “be fair” and that “CNN is the Clinton News Network.”

CNN is just like the other networks, tilted to the political left. Only Fox News has true ideological balance.

Thus, it is no surprise that Americans have a very dim view of the news media. According to a new Gallup survey, only 32% of Americans have a fair or great deal of faith in the news media to “report the news fully, accurately and fairly.” Among Republicans, it is even worse with only 14% expressing a belief that the media is fair. These are the lowest media ratings in the 44 year history of the Gallup survey, dropping eight points in just one year. In the view of Gallup, these dismal results are “a stunning development for an institution designed to inform the public.”

The problem is that the media does not inform; they mostly try to persuade. For example, Republicans have certainly noticed how horribly the media treats Donald Trump and they obviously do not like what they see. Among Democrats, there is much more support for the news media with 51% expressing faith in their work. Democrats obviously appreciate how the media has covered for Hillary Clinton on so many issues.

In the last week, a video showing Hillary collapsing and being dragged into her van forced the mainstream news media to reluctantly cover Hillary’s health problems. Previously, it was viewed as a major conspiracy theory pursued by suspicious websites and crazy Republicans. The media prefers to focus on Trump controversies and found a new one this week, the President’s birth certificate, to drag back into the spotlight.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump was questioned about whether he accepts that Obama was born in Hawaii. Of course, with so many important issues facing the nation, it is amazing that Trump would be asked about an old controversy. It was another media trap set to destroy Donald Trump.

After first refusing to acknowledge the authenticity of the birth certificate, Trump later said that he accepts that Obama was born in the United States. Today, at a media event at his new Washington D.C. hotel, Trump said that “President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period.”

Today, Trump handled the event masterfully by first introducing military heroes who endorsed his candidacy. He only addressed the birth certificate at the very end of the event, but only after getting the media to cover his powerful endorsements. This is exactly what happened during his highly anticipated immigration speech in Arizona. He used it as an opportunity to show endorsements from “Angel Moms,” parents who suffered the loss of a child due to the criminal actions of an illegal alien.

For the next few days, the media and their favored candidate will try to trumpet the birth certificate issue as another way of calling Trump a racist. Hillary Clinton said that the debate shows “bigotry and bias” and that Trump owes the President “an apology.” These attacks are only the beginning as Hillary and the media will join forces in an attempt to sidetrack Trump’s momentum in the polls.

The good news is that the public is wise to the media’s game. The Gallup poll results show that the American people understand what side the media is on and will discount much of what is reported. Luckily, the mainstream media cannot influence the American public like it once did. There are too many alternative news sources today and, clearly, the American people are too smart to fall for the media’s tricks once again.

Mother Fails To Prove Entitlement To Coverage After Untimely Payment

The Indiana Court of Appeals affirmed summary judgment in favor of a Hendricks County woman’s insurer on her suit alleging breach of contract after the insurance company declined to cover her son’s auto accident, which occurred after she let her coverage lapse for nonpayment.

Heather Starr-Haller, who had coverage in six-month terms for her 1998 Chevy Blazer, had a history of failing to pay for the coverage from State Farm, which was billed on a monthly basis.

On three occasions in a two-year period, she missed her monthly installment due on her premium, in which State Farm sent her a notice with the amount due and a cancel date. The notices stated that there is no coverage between the date and time of cancellation and the date and time of reinstatement. Whenever she did pay the missed payment, she received a reinstatement notice that again said there was no coverage between the cancellation date and the reinstatement date.

In August 2014, she missed another payment and received another cancellation notice. The cancellation date was Sept. 18. On Oct. 30, she dropped a partial payment off at her State Farm agent’s place of business after business hours. That night, her son was injured in a one-car crash in the Blazer, which was totaled. Starr-Haller sometime thereafter paid the remaining balance, and she claims the policy was reinstated, although it is not supported by the evidence.

She filed a claim with the insurance company, but it denied it on the ground that it had cancelled her coverage and it was not reinstated at the time of the accident. Starr-Haller sued for breach of contract and other claims. The trial court granted State Farm’s motion for summary judgment in December.

Starr-Haller maintained that State Farm waived its right to deny and is estopped from denying her coverage because of the history of reinstating her coverage after she made the payment in full. She claimed because State Farm never refunded her for the time when the insurance had lapsed, it accepted the payments as though she had continuous, uninterrupted coverage.

“State Farm’s actions with respect to the dates that encompassed the October 30 accident were identical to its actions during the three prior occasions in which State Farm had also cancelled Starr-Haller’s coverage. That undisputed evidence plainly shows that State Farm did not intend to relinquish its right to deny Starr-Haller coverage during the period in which those cancellations of coverage had occurred. Likewise, that evidence demonstrates that State Farm’s course of conduct did not knowingly mislead or induce Starr-Haller to believe that she would have retroactive coverage if she did not pay her premium installment when due,” Judge Edward Najam wrote inBradley Starr by Next Friend Heather Starr-Haller and Heather Starr-Haller v. State Farm Automobile Insurance Company and the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, 32A05-1605-PL-976.

Aces Basketball Tip-Off Fundraiser to be held Oct. 11

Event will be on UE campus

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Coming off of an extremely successful event last year, the University of Evansville Athletics Department will once again hold the Purple Aces Basketball Tip-Off Fundraiser on Tuesday, October 11.

The banquet will be held in the Eykamp room on the second floor of the Ridgway University Center on the UE campus.  Beer and wine will be served at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m.  Following dinner, a program will take place that will feature speeches from both head basketball coaches and a student-athlete roundtable session.

Early registration is encouraged.  The first 100 registered guests will be guaranteed a seat with an Aces basketball player.  The cost for the dinner and program is $100 per person.  That rate is good until Tuesday, Oct. 4 when the late registration cost will be $120.  Catering will be provided by Acropolis.

UE head coaches Marty Simmons and Matt Ruffing will be on hand to give an exclusive look into their preparations for the 2016-17 campaign.  There will also be a roundtable discussion with the student-athletes, giving you exclusive first-hand access to the UE basketball programs and will be hosted the event will be 14 News anchor Erin Meyer.  Capping off the night will be an exclusive video presentation.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Aces Athletics Aspire Fund.  Part of your registration price is tax deductible.

It is sure to be a great evening that will serve as the official kickoff to basketball season.  This provides a great opportunity to get inside access while enjoying an evening on the UE campus.  Two drink tickets will be provided to each guest along with top-notch catering and ambiance.

Now that the health of Hillary has become a serious issue in the mainstream media and not just a dirty alt-right rumor, maybe someone should carry Bill Clinton down to the nearest clinic for a checkup.

Bill appears to be in much worse shape than poor old Hillary.

In his campaign speeches the old lech looks and talks like some retired codger you’d find hanging out at Jerry’s One Stop convenience store in Hope, Ark.

If I’m running Hillary’s Campaign to Nowhere, I’d pull the old man off the trail immediately and let him appear only at private $100,000-a-plate fundraisers in Hollywood.

All thin, rich Bill does now is remind people how old and tired he and Hillary are.

The thought of Bill and Hillary —- the Old Couple? — together again in the Oval Office might still bring tears of joy to Babs Streisand and the rest of the liberal entertainment elite.

But to any voter under forty it must look like their grandparents’ bridge club is trying to take over the country.

Trump isn’t exactly the most fit or youthful 70-year-old, no matter what Doctor Oz decrees. He too is older than we’d like.

But at least he can still play golf, climb up and down stairs without assistance and use a cellphone without losing it. He isn’t almost collapsing in public, either.

Poor Hillary’s public stumble at the 9/11 memorial ceremonies last weekend forced her to do what she, Bill and the entire Clinton Mob do better than any modern political operation in modern history —- lie.

They could have come out and said Hillary had pneumonia but she thought the 9/11 ceremony was so important she tried to tough it out. She could have been a hero.

Instead they did what first comes naturally to the Clintons. They hid from the public and started lying.

They’d still be lying if some ordinary guy with a smartphone and a Twitter account hadn’t caught her wobbly walk on video.

And we’d all still be believing she left in the middle of the event because she works harder than any man, was dehydrated and got sunstroke on a pleasant morning thousands of others thought was perfect.

The mainstream news media didn’t discover Hillary’s latest lies. They didn’t even capture her stumbling collapse into her SUV. Maybe they’ll do better next time, but don’t count on it.

WikiLeaks and the Russian hackers are doing the dirty work the media won’t do. Now we’re outsourcing our journalism.

The true state of Hillary’s health is a serious issue and her people can’t be trusted to provide us with the truth. But in her basket of deplorable acts, where do you put this one?

On top of Benghazi? Above the emails? Below the Clinton Foundation? Next to her lousy job as secretary of state? Under all those quarter-million dollar speeches she and Bill made?

Trump is no prize for anyone with Republican or conservative values. And it’s not pretty to watch him learning to be a politician on the job — and in public.

But for all the insulting things he’s said or dumb liberal things he and Ivanka want to do, he still has the potential to not make Republicans sorry they voted for him.

There’s no hope for old Hillary to change for the better. She betrayed her true, nasty character when she read her “Deplorables Speech” to her elite pals.

Millions of American voters have been given a rare glimpse of the real Hillary. Let’s hope most of them saw that she’s the one who’s really deplorable.
