Democratic Party Caucus Tonight!
The Vanderburgh County Democrats will be holding a Committeeman and Vice Committeeman Caucus this evening at at DiLegge’s (607 N Main St. Evansville, IN 47711). Light refreshments will be available starting at 5:00PM, and the meeting will begin at 5:30PM. We will be introducing new candidates for the November election and voting to authorize the Chairman to appoint these candidates to the ballot.
Investigating the Death of an Individual
The Vanderburgh County Coroners Office, Evansville Police Department and the Evansville Fire Department are investigating the death of an individual found in a fire damaged building on Read St. The autopsy has been completed and the cause of death is pending additional lab studies. The death is considered suspicious and the investigation is ongoing. The victim has been preliminarily identified but positive identification is pending DNA analysis.

Â … that the water current was running extremely fast downstream but the Marina Harbour Master caught the drowning man and secured him to the Jon boat and waited till the fire department came to get him from the water and revived him? Â …this is a developing story?
IS IT TRUEÂ our prediction that a last-minute amendment will be added to the proposed “Noise Ordinance” by Connie Robinson was spot on? …Councilwomen Robinson amendment to the “Noise Ordinance” proved to be acceptable to the majority of City Council members for passage? Â …when City Council allowed amendments to the “Noise Ordinance,” Â it insured that outdoor entertainment events and future investors in the music/bar businesses will continue locating here? Â …when City Council accepted the “Robinson 75 Decibel” amendment to the “Noise Ordinance” it guaranteed that the boundary within the City limits is now treated equally? IS IT TRUE that yesterday a political bombshell was delivered by local Republican party boss Wayne Parke to the popular Cody Morris? … that Mr. Parke removed Cody Morris as a Republican Precinct Chairman?  …that the e-mail text to sent to Cody Morris by Mr. Parke stated that “you are being removed as a Precinct Chairman for the following reason “is that you cannot be a Republican and support Democrat Joe Donnelly for the Senate”?
IS IT TRUE we wonder why lifelong Republican Cody Morris wasn’t removed by the local “GOP Party Boss” Wayne Parke years back when he openly supported Democratic Knight Township Trustee Kathryn Martin for re-election?  …maybe it was because that Mr. Morris was the Campaign Advisor to the Committee To Elect Todd Young to The United States Senate at that time?

Federal Judge Temporarily Blocks Indiana Voter Purge Law

A federal judge issues a preliminary injunction against a law that critics say would allow officials to illegally purge voters from Indiana’s election rolls.
The liberal group Common Cause argues Indiana’s use of the interstate crosscheck system is discriminatory. The system finds a match based on first name, last name, and date of birth.
Starting in July, elections officials would be allowed to automatically eliminate voters who show up as registered in another state.
Critics argue voters can only be removed if they confirm a change of address in writing or fail to respond to mailed notices.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt blocked the law this past Friday until the court case wraps up.

Indiana Receives Federal Waiver To Implement The State’s Workforce Plan
Gov. Eric J. Holcomb on Friday received a letter from the U.S. Department of Labor indicating a waiver he requested on March 23 has been approved. The waiver allows the new Governor’s Workforce Cabinet to fill the role of the state’s federally-mandated workforce development board. The Governor’s Workforce Cabinet was created in the 2018 legislative session within Senate Enrolled Act 50 and outlines a smaller group with more authority to drive collaboration among employers and state and local partners.
“We are working to build a workforce system that gets more Hoosiers into training and better jobs,†Gov. Holcomb said. “The streamlined structure of the new Governor’s Workforce Cabinet lets us quickly react to changes in the economy and meet the needs of employees and employers. I’m grateful to Secretary Acosta for recognizing that states like Indiana can best innovate when given the flexibility to do so.â€
The letter received Friday from the U.S. Department of Labor is attached.
According to the letter, “ETA [the Employment and Training Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor] reviewed the State’s waiver request and plan and has determined that the requirements requested to be waived impede the ability of Indiana to implement its plan to improve the workforce development system. Therefore, ETA approves this waiver for Program Years 2018 through 2020.â€
