Larry Meriweather Jr. Died

 This morning at 1:40 a.m., the Evansville Police Department was dispatched to the 100 block of W. Oregon St. for a shots fired call. The caller reported hearing six or seven shots in the area of Oregon and Baker. 

  The arriving officers were approached by several people who directed them to where the shooting victim, Larry Wayne Meriweather Jr. (30), was lying on the floor of a residence with a gunshot wound to the chest. 

  Meriweather was quickly transported to the hospital by an ambulance where he later died.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office and the Evansville Police Department are investigating the death of Larry Wayne Merriweather Jr.  The Coroner’s Office was called to Deaconess Midtown ER  upon the report of a deceased subject.  The Evansville Police Department had responded to an Oregon St. address prior investigating gunshots and can provide information as to the ongoing investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for 16:00 today.
