On June 5th, around 2:20 p.m., Evansville Police Officers were dispatched to the intersection of

Bellemeade Ave. and Englewood Ave. for an accident with injuries involving a motorcycle and SUV. The driver of the SUV was traveling east on Bellemeade Ave. and attempted to turn north onto Englewood Ave. The motorcycle was traveling west on Bellemeade Ave. when the two vehicles collided.

The motorcycle rider had very severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he passed away at the hospital. The driver of the SUV did not have any injuries. The driver did not show any signs of impairment and agreed to take a chemical test, which is protocol in an accident involving serious bodily injury or death.

EPD Detectives, Crime Scene Detectives, and an Accident Reconstructionist were all called out to the scene. The roadway was shut down for about two hours during the investigation. This is still an active investigation and no criminal charges have been filed at this time. The victim’s name may be released by the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office at a later time.Â
