IS IT TRUE it seems like that some of our elected officials have forgotten that the first amendment to the U. S. Constitution states “Congress will make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the rights of the people to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievance”?
IS IT TRUE we hope that someone with common business and political sense with come forward and encourage the Indiana Governor to push our lawmakers to approve simulcast horse racing at Indiana casinos soon as possible? …when the Indiana power brokers delay the simulcast horse racing decision the Commonwealth of Kentucky got the upper hand in generating future gaming dollars because they now have legalized slot machines and simulcast horse racing gaming?
IS IT TRUE after a long delay the Vanderburgh County Redevelopment Commission recently held a meeting? …we are pleased that all five members of this most important county board voted unanimously to slow down the funding of all five Burkhart TIF District projects because of the extremely high cost of building materials caused by the COVID-19 pandemic?…they were also very wise to vote (5-0) to hire the London Witte Consulting Group in order that they can reevaluate and reanalyze each of the proposed Burkhart TIF District capital projects? … that reasonable people sit down and reason together?
IS IT TRUE we applaud the Vanderburgh County Redevelopment Commission members, Wayne Kinney-President, County Councilmen James Raben and Tom Shetler, County Commissioners Cheryl Musgrave and Ben Shoulders for displaying reasonable business judgment as it related to proposed Burkhardt TIF District projects?
IS IT TRUE on December 5th, 2019 the Vanderburgh County Council held a public hearing concerning four (4) proposed designs of the Vanderburgh County Jail? …the proposed jail designs were created by AmericanStructure Engineering after they gathered information from State, Federal. Local law enforcement, elected officials, criminal justice experts, and other stakeholders? …after all said and done members of the Vanderburgh County Council objected to renovating the County jail because of projected costs?
IS IT TRUE we know that most of the current members of the Vanderburgh County Council are ultra-conservative? …we hope that the majority understand that building a new addition to the jail is considered investing our tax dollars for the public good?
IS IT TRUE we predict that the renovation of the Vanderburgh County Jail will be a “Hot Political” issue in the 2022 county election?
IS IT TRUE if the Vanderburgh County Council members don’t make a decision to expand the jail they will forever be known as being “SOFT ON CRIME”?
IS IT TRUE we are told that many Republican movers and shakers are encouraging 5th Ward Evansville City Councilman Justin Elpers to run for the Vanderburgh County Commission seat currently held by Jeff Hatfield? …that Mr. Hatfield has announced that he will not be a candidate for re-election in 2022? …we expect Mr. Elpers to make an official announcement that he will seek Commissioner Hatfield’s seat sometime in July 2021? …this is a developing story?
IS IT TRUE we are also told that well-known and highly respected community volunteer Paul Green is been encouraged to run for an At-Large Evansville City Council seat in the next city election? …we find it extremely interesting that Mr. Green is being encouraged to run for City Council by members of both sides of the political aisle?
IS IT TRUE a member of our staff recently attended a meeting of the Evansville City Council? …he reported that all nine (9) members of City Council stood up for a “Home Owned And Homegrown” business in order that they could stay in business? …he was also very impressed with the way that City Council President Ron Beane conducted the meeting?
IS IT TRUE that many people are wondering why some elected officials are still attending their official meetings by “Zooming” especially when their constituents report seeing them shopping, going to work, attending social events, and taking vacations?
IS IT TRUE the stark reality is that newspapers across the country are victims of large investment groups that have cut talent, alienated advertisers, and produced irrelevant biased narratives?…at this rate, there will only be a handful of newspapers still in print in the United States in 10 years?
IS IT TRUE successful business people never forget when they invest in a multi-million capital project they should also make financial provisions to do long-term preventive maintenance on the project?
IS IT TRUE that states, cities, and counties across America don’t have a revenue problem they just have a spending problem?
IS IT TRUE that ‘political patronage” is so entrenched in local politics that a former elected officeholder whom we shall not name has been quoted as saying “I get all of the credit and they take all of the blame” to justify appointing his political cronies to jobs under his control?
IS IT TRUE when a Chairman of a political party sweeps an election he takes total credit for this accomplishment? …when a Chairman of a political party loses he blames everyone else for the loss?
IS IT TRUE that the Honorable Vanderburgh County Circuit Court Judge for Vanderburgh County David D. Kiely is doing an outstanding job as the Circuit Court Judge for Vanderburgh County?
