We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way.
City-County Observer Comment Policy: Be kind to people. No personal attacks or harassment will be tolerated and will be removed from our site.”
We understand that sometimes people don’t always agree and discussions may become a little heated.  The use of offensive language and/or insults against commenters will not be tolerated and will be removed from our site.
IS IT TRUE that the City-County Observer newspaper is a proud supporter of law enforcement?
IS IT TRUE that over the years the City-County Observer has studied and published articles that examine the economic expectations and realities of proposed capital projects within Evansville and Vanderburgh County? …that our conclusions thus far are that a lack of planning has created an unavoidable last-minute quagmire that leaves our community in the unenviable position of needing to provide significant incentives to secure a binding and enforceable agreement to entice a developer to build profitable projects?
IS IT TRUE that elected officials should make their decisions based on “Good Public Policy” and not on “Political Patronage”?
IS IT TRUE that several things need to happen in order to safeguard the long-term financial integrity of the “BURKHARDT TIF DISTRICT FUNDS”?  …the Vanderburgh Redevelopment Commission needs to postpone the “South Trails” project because the expense does not make any financial sense at this time?  …the second thing the Vanderburgh County Redevelopment Commission needs to help ensure the financial integrity of the “BURKHARDT TIF  DISTRICT” is to spread the proposed capital projects over a period from two (2) to five (5 ) years instead of doing all of them in the next two years?  …the “BURKHARDT TIF” projects should also be based on accurate income data and not on any future “Pie In The Sky” projections?
IS IT TRUE it’s been alleged by a reliable source that the members of the EVSC school board have been passing a temporary loan resolution since 2018?  … that high school accounting instructors teach their students when you have to borrow millions of dollars to cover current operating costs for three years in a row you have major money management and cash flow challenges?
IS IT TRUE it’s time that the EVSC Public Relations Director sends the City-County Observer a copy of their official meeting agenda so we can publish it?
IS IT TRUE we hope that in the future our elected officials will not vote on any ordinances (unless it’s an emergency) that’s not listed on their official agenda because it doesn’t allow public input? …when they vote on non-agenda items it’s not “Transparent” but also isn’t representative of “Good Public Policy” practices?
IS IT TRUE the Vanderburgh County Commissioners recently voted to continue to proceed with providing BroadBand in the county? …if this decision comes to fruition, Vanderburgh County could provide free high-speed internet to the rural areas of Vanderburgh County?  …we are told that some people feel that government shouldn’t do for people what they should do for themselves?
IS IT TRUE that Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke would make history in 2023 if he decides to run for a fourth term?…only four (4) Evansville mayors have served three terms? …they are Benjamin Bosse, Frank McDonald Sr, Frank McDonald Jr, and Lloyd Winnecke)? …no mayor has even done four terms?  …this is a developing story?
IS IT TRUE if our elected officials want to help people living in Jimtown and Jacobsville area, the first step is to help them find good-paying jobs, reliable public transportation, affordable and livable housing, good schools, affordable daycare services, a quality grocery store, and accessible and affordable healthcare would go a long way in helping people in that economically distressed area?
IS IT TRUE that we have just been informed that the Evansville Redevelopment Commission has two (2) new members serving on this city-controlled multi-facet and multi-million dollar funded (State and Federal) bureaucratic-based agency?
IS IT TRUE we wonder what the Board Of Directors of the Evansville Museum has done with the multi-million dollars “PICASSO On Glass” painting?
IS IT TRUE that our printed free edition of the City-County Observer is really being well received by members of this community?  …last month we had to replenish the majority of our free-standing newspaper racks several times during the month?
IS IT TRUE when the people fear the Government we have Tyranny!  When the Government fears the people we have Liberty!
Todays ‘Readers Poll” question is: Did the House Republicans make a mistake when they voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney from the No. 3 positions in caucus leadership?

  1. The IIT today reminds readers of the significant needs of County and City capital projects and infrastructure project needs and repairs,
and how those needed improvements demand attention or the results could be catastrophic,

…but the IIT says our Leaders only ever deal with those needs where there is an emergency.

This cycle is vicious and unrelenting.
Failure to address it means our area will degrade further and further and further until all that is left are rotted bridges, rotted water and sewage systems and roads incapable of supporting growing and dynamic business, a rising industrial base and strong consumer activity – Republican Party priorities.

If this is IMPORTANT to us, then PASS THE INFRASTRUCTURE BILL IN CONGRESS!!

If this is IMPORTANT to the City-County-Observer – famous for highlighting how no-one is focused on infrastructure priorities!! – then the City-County-Observer SHOULD SUPPORT THE PASSAGE OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE BILL IN CONGRESS!!!

You don’t support the Infrastructure Bill in Congress?

Then I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU when you complain about our local infrastructure problems and how SOMEONE needs to step up and do something!!
