Dr. Bill Thomas’ ChangingAging Tour to visit USI

The University of Southern Indiana will host Dr. Bill Thomas’ ChangingAging Tour on Monday, November 6 at the USI Performance Center. The event will include two performances: Disrupt Dementia from 2:30 to 4 p.m., and Life’s Most Dangerous Game from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The performances are made possible by AARP Indiana, USI and the USI Foundation. USI Dental Hygiene Clinic to repeat free dental cleanings for veterans

The University of Southern Indiana Dental Hygiene Clinic will provide free dental cleaning, fluoride and X-rays for military veterans on November 6 and 8, 2017. In an attempt to serve more veterans, the USI Dental Hygiene Program will schedule appointments during both day and evening hours again this year. Read More

USI professor to speak on global climate change reporting

Dr. Stephen Zehr, USI professor of sociology, will present “A Mosaic of Climate Change Reporting? Newspaper Accounts of Climate Change in Five Nations, 2000-2015” at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 10 in Kleymeyer Hall located in the Liberal Arts Center. The event, part of the 2017 Fall Liberal Arts Faculty Colloquia Series, is free and open to the public.

Empty Bowls Evansville 2017 to offer soup and support for the homeless in Haynie’s Corner

More than 1,000 ceramic bowls made by volunteers from around the community will be on sale at the 2017 Empty Bowls Evansville, a charity event to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 11 at Sauced, located in the Haynie’s Corner Arts District at 1113 Parrett Street in Evansville. At this year’s events, all bowls made by the community are available for a $10 donation, which included gourmet soup, bread and beverages provided by local restaurants and businesses. This year will feature a “Pro-Bowl” room with professionally made bowls at prices ranging from $20 – $200. All of the event proceeds will go to area food-based charities assisting Evansville’s homeless population. Read More

New Harmony art gallery to host exhibition, High Tech/Low Tech

The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art’s newest exhibition, High Tech/Low Tech by Nicole Jacquard, will open on Saturday, November 4 and run through December 15. Jacquard explores themes of nostalgia, longing and memory through the creation of souvenir like objects and personal ornamentation, such as brooches. The work in High Tech/Low Tech explores how everyday objects become precious through personal association. Read More

48th Madrigal Feaste to ring in holiday season with food, music

The University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir will present the 48th annual Madrigal Feaste from Thursday, November 30 through Sunday, December 3, in Carter Hall located in University Center West on the USI campus. Tickets are $28 for USI students and seniors (60+) and $34 for adults. Doors open at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 12:30 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. Fall 2017 Commencement Exercises

The University of Southern Indiana will hold Fall 2017 Commencement Exercises on Saturday, December 9 in the Physical Activities Center. The ceremony for the College of Liberal Arts and Romain College of Business will be held at 10 a.m. and the ceremony for the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education and the College of Nursing and Health Professions will be held at 1 p.m. Tickets will be required to attend both ceremonies.
