Suspect in Burglary while Armed with a Deadly Weapon Arrested

On Friday, July 3rd at approximately 2:30p Patrol Officers were dispatched to 3218 Bellemeade Avenue in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival and through the investigation officers and detectives ascertained that the resident of the Bellemeade Avenue address arrived home and observed through a front window of the home that several items were moved and out of place. The resident also saw that the back bedroom window and a basement window were broken. The resident left and called 911 and then returned a short time later with two more people. One of those subjects saw a white male in the back yard of the residence and approached him. The white male, later identified as Richard Dale Duff, pulled a knife and stated he was going to kill the subject that approached him. Duff then ran west from the location. A Canine Unit was utilized to track Duff. Duff was located hiding in a yard barn in the 3100 block of Lincoln Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident.

Duff was charged with the following charges and transported to the Vanderburgh County Detention Center. Case Number: 15-14291
