Pre-Primary Number Reflects Broad Base of Support

Evansville, IN – State Representative Gail Riecken today announced that her campaign has received $111,445 in contributions in the three-month period since she announced her bid for Evansville Mayor.

This strong fundraising number is a testament to the fact that her message of fiscal responsibility and transparency is garnering wide support from the public. These are the themes she identified at her announcement as the cornerstones of her campaign.

The contribution total is especially impressive in light of the fact that Riecken has been out of the city serving in the General Assembly at Indianapolis throughout this filing period

A breakdown of the donations shows 71% of the individual donors are from Evansville and 60% gave $100 or less.

“I appreciate the strong support our campaign has received from friends in all areas  of Evansville,” said Riecken.  “In just a few months since I announced my candidacy, we shattered our fundraising goal, thanks to those who are drawn to our message of fiscal constraint and an open city government that earns public confidence. We will be talking more about making our neighborhoods safe again and sound progressive planning that benefits all residents.”

    1. This site is definitely giddy for Gayle.
This story is a paid advertisement, isn’t it?

      • I’m wondering who pays Commonsense to troll against the democratic candidates in this forum? What’s your political affiliation CS? Oh, Wait I really don’t need to ask that question as it’s pretty obvious that you don’t like the Democrats and only suppose the GOP no matter what the GOP that’s disgusting to most city residents. Like over spending for the last three years. Whinny spends money like a drunken sailor at the casino.

    2. Hasn’t she only been running for a few months? That’s impressive for someone who just basically announced.

I’m sure she’ll be outspent by Winnecke, he’s had years to campaign (which is about all he’s done). I don’t feel that will matter in the long run, locals are tired of Winnecke’s failed promises and complete disaster of city finances

    3. No kidding. I used to come here and feel like I was getting informed. Now it is nothing but a pure shrill piece for Gail Riecken. I had been undecided, but this kind of non-sense and propoganda is definitely sending me to the mayors side.

Report evenly and fairly, or just disclose yourself as a Riecken puff piece. We can look for unbiased and factual news elsewhere.

    4. So there are complaints about the current mayor’s excess spending. Here there are complaints about the mayoral candidate’s contributions. It is all about money. These kind of silly responses here mean nothing. If you don’t like the CCO, you are free to go. If you like it stay. No one cares what you do. Two of the 3 are obviously Rep. shills anyway.
BTW – I am party neutral. I just get so tired of party-as-usual political crap in Evansville. Also the list of donors will be available for both candidates soon for your viewing and I am sure criticism.

    5. How about a link to the Giddy for Gail campaign finance report so we can read it for ourselves and draw our own conclusions as to the donors, the “in kind” donations, the pay outs and the IOUs.

    6. Which cause the removal?

Comment on the spending of LW on a non-election year?

Or the reference to grass root cause of the 2012 election?
