WHATS ON YOUR MIND TODAY?

We hope that today’s “Readers Forum” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?
HERE IS WHATS ON OUR MIND TODAY: The attached cartoon ask the question why are our political parties blaming each other for the problems in Washinton?  Why do you think they are doing this?
Todays “Readers Poll” question is: Do you feel that the Evansville City Council should resend the “3-Minutes Governmental Censorship” speaking rule?

  1. This was brutal reading this morning for the Insane Trump Posse:

“Amid the chaos and continued resignations in the Donald Trump presidency, Mitch McConnell has been exposed as the true leader of the Republican Party. He has proved to be able to push Trump into chaos while delivering all of the tangible results. While Trump tweets and is left to daily panics with his attention on the Mueller investigation, McConnell is actually the genuine, stone-cold political and legislative assassin.

It was McConnell that prevented the replacement the late Justice Antonin Scalia with Obama’s Judge Merrick Garland, leaving the seat open to bring in his own choice, Neil Gorsuch, as Trump preferred other nominees. It was McConnell who passed the biggest pro-business tax cut, the Tax Bill, for the Republican business donor base, validating the true base of the Republican Party, the donors, knows who is running their business. And it was McConnell last week who stood firm against Trump’s efforts to shut down the government, and then push him all the way back by passing government spending legislation for two years.

Along the way McConnell even took out Steve Bannon and the alt-right bible Breitbart.com casting aside the strange alt-right candidates they support. It was a big win for the Republican “establishment.” McConnell laid the Alabama defeat directly on Breitbart: “The political genius on display throwing away a seat in the reddest state in America is hard to ignore.”

Mitch McConnell is laughing all along when he reads about the “very stable genius” in the White House who doesn’t have much interest in policy or procedure. The real leader of the Republican Party is delivering wins, and it’s the guy sitting at his Senate office desk, looking at a camera and flashing that Kentucky smile for an uncomfortable amount of time.”

    • Says it perfectly.
We’re trying to keep control of Congress. The damn Trump is doing everything he can to make sure we lose it.

  2. We joke at Chamber meetings about the clueless MAGA posse (I like it. Insane Trump Posse) who have no idea they are working for Mitch McConnell and not the clown Trump. All they care about are race and immigrant issues. Hey, David Duke loves Trump too, and it’s not because of our GOP tax cut!!

  3. Help me out here. I have worked with many FBI agents over the years. Great police work and cooperation at the local level. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that the FBI did a background investigation on Rob Porter. During that investigation both of his ex wives were interviewed. According to what I know, they were given the pictures that we have seen recently on the news. How, if there was substantiated abuse, did he pass the background and work in the White House? Why did it rear it’s ugly head recently? Given the offense, I don’t know how it did not come to light in the background.

    • “This White House and this Administration play fast and loose with the laws, rules and norms that have historically governed and been respected by previous White Houses of both parties.” “The reason that somebody with these extraordinary allegations hanging over their head would be able to be in the position is the contempt that emanates for the normal rules, starting with the President.” – Norm Eisen, Former White House Special Counsel for Ethics and Government Reform

Sounds like the old law of the jungle, “It’s not who you know, it’s who you blow,” is back in style Blue Line.

The fish rots from the head down, so they say….

    • Good question. He did not have security clearances in the White House because of it. Whether Trump enforced that is unknown. He’s not enforcing it with Kushner.

  4. John Friend, I just happened to be watching C-Span and our present Treasury Secretary was asked during a committee hearing if less withholding of taxes was going to be initiated on our beloved Middle Class to let them think they are getting a nice tax cut now and he said, No. That is not true.

Well, I may be the only one, but it just happened to me. To the tune of exactly $100 dollars per pay period.

Just came from my accountant and he said even though the standard deduction raised to $24,000 filing jointly, this, that and look over there was taken away. He also said my tax rate is being raised 1%.

My question; Am I missing something? And just how accurate is your link you showed a month ago compared to reality?

No biggie, but whenever either Party has total control, I make sure I have plenty of Vaseline available.

    Believe me….
