LONG TIME, NO SEE

Wednesday the Evansville IceMen meet the Rapid City Rush for the first time since March 17, 2012 when the two teams were part of the old Central Hockey League. The two teams did not meet last year during Rapid City’s inaugural ECHL season, and meet once more at the Ford Center February 6.

WESTERN LOG JAM

Only five points separate fifth place from 11th place in the current Western Conference Standings. Both Evansville and Rapid City are chasing the pack as the teams approach the halfway point of the ECHL season. The Rush sit in ninth, one point behind the Indy, while the IceMen trail the Fuel by six points in the playoff race.

WELCOME BACK, HOBBS

Forward Danny Hobbs rejoined the IceMen last weekend, after starting the season in the AHL with Binghamton. The Shawville, Quebec native played in 17 games for Evansville last season, and scored two goals in his first game back in an IceMen jersey Friday at Indy.

RAPID MELEE

The Rush made national news to start off the New Year, when Rapid City hosted Tulsa January 2. The two teams combined for 216 penalty minutes when the game ended in a melee which resulted in five suspensions. The Rush will be without Garrett Clarke and Jonathan Narbonne for Wednesday, as both players were suspended five games for their actions in the fight. It was the most penalty minutes in an ECHL game since January 2012.
