A combined shutout from Randy Wynne and Mitch Aker lead the Evansville Otters to a 2-0 win and a series sweep over the Schaumburg Boomers on Sunday afternoon at Bosse Field in front of 1,438 fans.

Evansville jumped on the board in the fifth inning on an RBI double from J.J Gould.

The Otters added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a Ryan Long RBI groundout.

Aker picked up the save in the ninth, his nineteenth of the season. Aker came into the frame with a man on base and worked around it eventually getting Dylan Jones to fly out to right field to end the game.

Wynne was stellar in his second win of the week and his sixth on the year for the Otters. Wynne tossed eight innings, working into the ninth, without allowing a run while giving up just six hits and striking out three.

Chris Powell picks up the tough-luck loss for the Boomers. Powell worked six innings allowing just one run while striking out six.

Following an off day on Monday, the Otters will begin a three-game series against the Southern Illinois Miners on Tuesday at Rent One Park. The Otters will return home to Bosse Field next Friday, August 10, to kick off a series against the Florence Freedom.
