Artwork will soon cover the lawn at McGary Middle School as students work on a special project in conjunction with Albion Fellows Bacon Center.
The Albion Fellows Bacon Center’s Unity Project will help students better understand the meaning of labels we give ourselves and help them explore how those labels both support and limit building interconnected, interesting communities.
As part of the project, students will create a web of artwork that will be a larger-than-life structure. The project will consists of 20 posts, each with identifiers such as, “I am from a single parent family,” “I speak English as a second language,” “I like science,” etc.  Students will tie yarn to posts that reflect their identities. Their yarn intertwines with others’ to create a web of interconnectedness.
