“LEFT JAB AND RIGHT JAB”

“Right Jab And Left Jab” was created because we have two commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE” or “Readers Forum” columns concerning National or International issues.
Joe Biden and Ronald Reagan’s comments are mostly about issues of national interest.  The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give Mr. Biden and Mr. Reagan exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “Left Jab” is a liberal view and the “Right Jab is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments of the two gentlemen is free to do so.

Florida Gov. DeSantis Signs Ban on So-Called ‘Sanctuary Cities’

Florida’s Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis, has signed a bill into law that bans any Florida city from declaring itself a “sanctuary city” to give illegal aliens a free pass from committing crimes.

The bill would mandate that all local police must cooperate with immigration and federal law enforcement officials.

“I am proud to sign the bill presented to me by the Florida Legislature to uphold the rule of law and ensure that no city or county jurisdiction can get in the way of Florida’s cooperation with our federal partners to enforce immigration law,” DeSantis said in a statement on Friday, according to Fox News.“I am proud to sign the bill presented to me by the Florida Legislature to uphold the rule of law and ensure that no city or county jurisdiction can get in the way of Florida’s cooperation with our federal partners to enforce immigration law,” DeSantis said in a statement on Friday, according to Fox News.

“This is about public safety, not about politics. We must do everything within our power, and use all the tools available to us, to ensure that our communities are safe,” DeSantis added.

Muslim radicals vow to destroy Canada and Israel.

….“Canada is a white supremacist, racist, colonial project, as is Israel – as is the state of Israel,” one woman said.

“So I don’t even consider myself to be a Canadian, because this is indigenous land, and this land is occupied,” she continued, with shocking contempt for the nation in which she was born. “Um, the people who are here, whether they are settlers, um, we also, we firstly need to educate ourselves about what has happened on this land, and what is continuously happening in order to be able to understand what our government – or what this government – is doing abroad and overseas.”

SYRIAN REFUGEE ARRESTED IN PLOT TO BLOW UP PITTSBURGH CHURCH IN THE NAME OF ISIS

A Syrian refugee living in Pittsburgh was arrested Wednesday in an alleged plot to blow up a church in the name of the Islamic State.

Mustafa Mousab Alowemer, 21, is charged with one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, as well as two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device or weapon of mass destruction.

Alowemer was born in Daraa, Syria, and admitted to the U.S. as a refugee on Aug. 1, 2016, federal prosecutors said according to the criminal complaint against him. He recently graduated from a Pittsburgh-area high school and does not hold a U.S. passport.

Prosecutors allege that Alowemer said he was planning an attack against the Pittsburgh church in order to “take revenge for our [ISIS] brothers in Nigeria.” Alowemer allegedly plotted to attack the Legacy International Worship Center, a majority black church on the city’s north side, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported…..

On Father’s Day, Kamala Harris Compares Military Dads to Illegal Aliens and Criminals

Harris listed them in presumed order of dearness to her heart, putting US military dads third behind first-in-her heart illegal aliens and accused criminals who can’t make bail.

“Today I’m thinking of the fathers who can’t be with their children because they were ripped from their sons and daughters at the border. The fathers who can’t celebrate today because they can’t afford bail. The fathers who are deployed. Don’t forget them. #FathersDay”

‘I Will Never Apologize’: Ocasio-Cortez Defends Concentration Camp Comments Amid Backlash

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has refused to apologize for comments she made in a video earlier this week where she compared U.S. border facilities with “concentration camps,” despite receiving widespread condemnation for the controversial remarks….

During an Instagram live video on June 17, the radical politician used the term linked to the Nazi camps holding Jews during World War II to describe the holding facilities at the southern border. She also made a direct comparison to the Holocaust, in which six million Jews killed by the Nazis.

“The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border and that is exactly what they are,” Ocasio-Cortez said, reported Ryan Saavedra of the conservative Daily Wire website. “They are concentration camps. And, um, if that doesn’t bother you, I don’t, I don’t know, I like, we can have, okay whatever.”….

Simon Wiesenthal Center Slams Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Her ‘Concentration Camps’ Accusation

Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action Agenda at the Simon Wiesenthal Center, took aim at New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her ignorant and anti-Semitic claim that the U.S. has created “concentration camps” to house illegal aliens.

Rabbi Cooper called AOC’s proclamation an “insult to victims of the Shoah.”…

But rabbi Cooper had nothing but condemnation for the congresswoman.

        According to the Jewish Journal:

Cooper said in a statement to the Journal that Ocasio-Cortez “should speak with Holocaust survivors and ex GIs who liberated them from the hell that was Dachau” since it’s an “insult to victims of Shoah to make [a] blatant false comparison.” He added that Ocasio-Cortez is resorting to “lurid imagery” for media attention.

“AOC and her fellow members of Congress from both parties have a moral obligation to fix the humanitarian disaster at the border,” Cooper said. “If they don’t there will only be more needless suffering and all of them, including AOC will be responsible. Stop demeaning memory and start doing your damn job.”

      ………………………………………………………..

Every Democratic presidential candidate polling above 1% supports a bill that would force schools to include male athletes who identify as transgender girls on female sports teams.

The Equality Act, which passed the House in May with unanimous Democratic support, amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” protected characteristics under federal anti-discrimination law.

The bill would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls, as both critics and supporters of the bill have acknowledged. The bill comes as male athletes have racked up victories in female sports.

With Republicans controlling both the White House and the Senate, the Equality Act has little to no chance of becoming law before the next election — but Democratic presidential candidates have pledged to make the bill a priority if they win in 2020.

The top seven Democratic presidential candidates in RealClearPolitics’ running average of primary polls have all publicly endorsed the legislation.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the frontrunner, said passing the Equality Act would be his top legislative priority if elected.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a measure on Friday that would prohibit Florida cities from being “sanctuary cities” for illegal immigrants and would require them to “cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.”

“Earlier this year, I made a promise that we would ban sanctuary cities in Florida and today we are delivering on that promise,” DeSantis said in a statement after signing the Federal Immigration Enforcement bill.

  5. Bravo to Ta-Nehisi Coates for speaking truth to “power”

Ta-Nehisi Coates REBUKES McConnell at the House Reparations Hearing

On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties held the first congressional hearing on reparations in more than a decade. Ta-Nehisi Coates, author of the 2014 Atlantic essay “The Case for Reparations,” was one of the first to testify. Coates began by directly addressing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who on Tuesday said, “I don’t think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago for whom none of us currently living are responsible is a good idea”

Coates’ response was a catalog of the crimes against black people by the federal government in McConnell’s own lifetime, as well as all of the things that the government pays for that certain individual taxpayers are not directly responsible for.

    Here’s what Coates said:

This rebuttal proffers a strange theory of governance: That American accounts are somehow bound by the lifetime of its generations. But well into this century, the United States was still paying out pensions to the heirs of Civil War soldiers. We honor treaties that date back some 200 years, despite no one being alive who signed those treaties

Many of us would love to be taxed for the things we are solely and individually responsible for, but we are American citizens and thus bound to a collective enterprise that extends beyond our individual and personal reach. It would seem ridiculous to dispute invocations of the Founders, or the Greatest Generation, on the basis of the lack of membership of either group. We recognize our lineage as a generational trust, an inheritance, and the real dilemma posed by generations is just that: a dilemma of inheritance

It is impossible to imagine America without the inheritance of slavery. As historian Ed Baptist has written, enslavement “shaped every crucial aspect of the economy and politics of America,” so that by 1836, more than 600 million, or more than half of the economic activity in the United States, derived directly or indirectly from the cotton produced by the million-odd slaves

By the time the enslaved were emancipated, they comprised the largest single asset in America: 3 billion in 1860 dollars, more than all the other assets in the country combined. The method of cultivating this asset was neither gentle cajoling, nor persuasion, but torture, rape, and child trafficking. Enslavement reigned for 250 years on these shores. When it ended, this country could have extended its hallowed principles: Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all regardless of color. But America had other principles in mind. And so for a century after the Civil War, black people were subjected to a relentless campaign of terror. A campaign that extended well into the lifetime of Majority Leader McConnell

It is tempting to divorce this modern campaign of terror, of plunder, from enslavement. But the logic of enslavement, of white supremacy, respects no such borders. And the God of bondage was lustful and begat many heirs: coup d’etats and convict leasing, vagrancy laws and debt peonage, redlining and racist G.I. bills, poll taxes and state-sponsored terrorism

We grant that Mr. McConnell was not alive for Appomattox. But he was alive for the electrocution of George Stinney. He was alive for the blinding of Isaac Woodard. He was alive to witness kleptocracy in his native Alabama, and a regime premised on electoral theft. Majority Leader McConnell cited Civil Rights legislation yesterday, as well he should because he was alive to witness the harassment, jailing, and betrayal of those responsible for that legislation by a government sworn to protect them. He was alive for the redlining of Chicago, and the looting of black homeowners of some $4 billion. Victims of that plunder are very much alive today

I am sure they’d love a word with the Majority Leader. What they know, what this committee must know, is that while emancipation dead-bolted the door against the bandits of America, Jim Crow wedged the windows wide open. And that is the thing about Sen. McConnell’s “something”: it was 150 years ago and it was right now. The typical black family in this country has one-tenth the wealth of the typical white family. Black women die in childbirth at four times the rate of white women, and there is, of course, the shame of this land of the free boasting the largest prison population on the planet, of which the descendants of the enslaved make up the largest share

The matter of reparations is one of making amends and direct redress, but it is also a question of citizenship. In H.R. 40, this body has a chance to both make good on its 2009 apology for enslavement, and reject fair-weather patriotism. To say that a nation is both its credits and its debts. That if Thomas Jefferson matters, so does Sally Hemings. That if D-Day matters, so does black Wall Street. That if Valley Forge matters, so does Fort Pillow. Because the question really is, not whether we will be tied to the “somethings” of our past, but whether we are courageous enough to be tied to the whole of them

Relatively recently there was a statue here in the Capitol that I believe had statues of General Lee and Alexander Stephens, and one has to ask: If in the Capitol, people understood the history of this country, why there would be statues honoring people who led a revolution to destroy it?

One would have to ask if that history were well understood, why in for instance the state of Mississippi, there still was a flag flying, dedicated to people who tried to destroy this country?

Why only a couple of years ago we saw the murder of Heather Heyer that was precipitated by a movement to erect a new group of statues and remove the statue of General Lee?

And so while it’s been well studied, I don’t know that Americans quite understand it. At this very point, you can get at least a plurality of Americans who will tell you that the Civil War was about states’ rights, with no conversation about states’ rights to do what. In terms of the differences in approach today, what I would say is that why we need H.R. 40.

I think the proper thing to do is for this body to convene a committee and convene a discussion to study exactly what the damage was and what potential remedy might be offered, and also to convene conversations around the country. Just attendant to that, I also would like to say there’s been a lot of, shall we say shade throwing on the notion of cutting checks. I just want to say, in the spirit of openness, in the spirit of the actual study, I don’t think we should necessarily rule out cutting checks. There are people who deserve checks. And I think that actually should be part of the study. We aren’t ruling out any solution. I don’t think we should rule out that one either

    • Bad news for Comrade Reagan:

…the USA Today/Suffolk University survey showed 49 percent of Americans approving of the job Trump’s doing as president, with 48 percent giving him a thumbs down.

That’s a more positive showing for Trump compared with other recent polling of his presidential approval rating.

And in the new survey, 49 percent of voters predicted Trump would win re-election, with 38 percent pointing to a victory by the eventual Democratic presidential nominee. Further, the poll indicated that if the November 2020 general election were held today, the president would narrowly edge an unnamed Democratic nominee — 40-37 percent, with 9 percent supporting an unnamed third-party candidate and 14 percent undecided.

That result differs from other recent national and early primary and caucus voting state polls, which indicate Trump trailing some of the leading Democratic White House hopefuls in hypothetical general election matchups. Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign manager has slammed such non-partisan surveys as “the biggest joke in politics,” and the president frequently rails against them.

  6. After the President’s brilliant tariff threats, Mexico is now doing more to stop illegal immigration than Democrats:
    ……………………………………………………………

Mexico to Deploy 6500 National Guard, Will Deport 2500 Migrants Daily

Mexican officials announced plans this week to deploy approximately 6,500 of its national guard troops at 12 checkpoints near the country’s southern border. The move comes in response to nearly 400,000 Central American and other migrants who entered the nation in the last three months on journeys to the U.S. Mexico City also discussed plans to deport approximately 2,500 migrants per day.

“We are going to establish a regular, orderly, and secure migration with human rights and human protection,” National Institute of Migration (INM) Commissioner Francisco Garduño Yáñez said during an interview with Mexico’s official news agency, Notimex. The commissioner stated that Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrand is coordinating the operation.

Garduño Yáñez told the Mexican news agency that nearly 400,000 migrants from Central America and other countries entered the country in the past three months. The officials said this “cannot continue to be allowed.”

The report from Notimex states that in addition to Central American migrants, they have also seen a rise in migrants from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Garduño Yáñez said one of the goals is to stop the crossings from Guatemala into Mexico via rafts or boats. He said there will be no more massive and anarchic border crossings as seen in the recent past. He pledged that those who are currently in camps and wish to be returned to their home country will be assisted by the Mexican government.

For those who do not wish to return home, the commissioner said, “We will see what conditions they are in and see if the law allows them to stay. Otherwise, they will be deported.”

Earlier this week, Breitbart News reported that Central American migrants began returning home in the midst of the government’s increased emphasis on border security and immigration.

“What they’re doing is having an effect because they’re detaining a lot of people, but it’s not going to stop,” Tomas Leyva, a Salvadoran migrant told the Associated Press. “[In El Salvador] they say ‘better killed by the gringos than by the gangsters.’”

The interviewed migrant was preparing to leave on a raft to Guatemala with the intent to return later, once enforcement slowed down. The increased enforcement effort by Mexico followed President Donald Trump’s stated plans to place tariffs on Mexican imports into the U.S.

The INM commissioner said Mexico will also send about 2,000 national guard members to the northern border with the U.S. where camps of migrants await any opportunity to enter the U.S. He said the guardsmen will “invite the migrants to return to their countries of origin with assistance from the government.”

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced plans to restrict bus travel in his country to people with proper identity documentation, Proceso reported. The president solicited the assistance of the public and transportation companies.

“And in this, [we’re] also asking for the cooperation of the transportation companies and the cooperation … of the citizens because we will be needing — I hope for everyone’s understanding — to ask for identification for the purchase of bus tickets,” the president said during a news conference on Wednesday. “Then … for the people to show their ID so that there is more control — because they used that as an excuse for the threats of imposing tariffs among other things.”

AMLO also announced a shakeup of the INM and Customs. He said there were irregularities at the INM and “acts of corruption” in Customs. “We are cleaning institutions that were very spoiled. One of these institutions is Migration; the other, Customs,” the president stated.

Commissioner Garduño Yáñez expanded on this during his interview with Notimex, stating that immigration agents reported for corruption have been arrested and are being made available to appropriate law enforcement.
