  1. Following Pence’s recommendation to appoint Holcomb would be bad for Indiana. It’d just encourage him to come back here, to the state he abandoned to his retrograde ambitions, after he flames out with his Orange Daddy in November. We should be thankful Orange took him away before we could vote him out, no sense in letting him think he’s welcome back.

    • Speaking of coming back to a state you abandoned, that must be a bummer for Bayh coming from his $3. million home in D.C. back to an apartment someone else has occupied for the last several years. It really doesn’t matter to these nomadic leaches where they want to run from, hell look a Hillary, who ran from New York, a State she had never maintained a residence in before she ran from there. Laws are for the little people.

      • Seems we had/have a Indiana governor who’s residency was in question also.
PAK, it happens all the time with these full time government officials!
I’ll be glad when you get thru this “political phase” of yours and settle back
down on this site to what I “had” respected you far.

        • You had better wake up and understand what is at stake. If you do not understand where I am coming from, then it is an enigma to me why you ever respected what I had to say in the past. My VALUES have never changed.

          • No Press.
            ARMSTRONG IS 100% CORRECT
And yours is a false statement. There is too much evidence Press.
And it is comprehensive and well-documented.
You have paid a price for abandoning your values and your character by supporting the liberal, serial philander, King-of-Debt, dangerous fool, no-values, two-Corinthians Trump….and it’s not just any price…..it is a “soul-selling price.”

        • I was going to bring our North Carolina-dwelling retiring Senator when I saw your post. He doesn’t have the generational ties to Indiana that Sen/Gov Bayh has, either.

    • C&P mention that Pence back in March chose Holcomb just for this situation.
Makes one wonder if Pence (and his handlers) had removed Sue Ellspermann
because of her wrong gender leading up to this? We all see on the surface what they want us to see.
It is the behind the scene that gets ugly!

      • You’re right about ugliness in behind-the-scenes politics. I can’t imagine the mental acrobatics that Pence must have engaged in to suddenly forget Cruz and swear allegiance to the Orange Buffoon. He must REALLY hate Indiana to do what he did to get away.

          • LKB, Mr. Becker and other Hillary supporters, any response to your hero John Kerry?

          • Yes Joe.

Kerry just stated he would never ever in a million years say the country that attacked us on 9-11 should have nuclear weapons if they so desire.

He also said the 189 countries at the climate change summit may not be as bright as you are, but he says you can listen just as well as you can hear.

Kerry also said those canals in Vietnam he spent so much time in were just as dangerous as Mop Head getting syphilis but he thanks God he wasn’t captured so if Trump gets elected he wouldn’t be disgraced for his service.

I’m sure Laura will research this and I’m sure you’ll be proven a fool again.

            But what’s new?….

  2. Was the Trump Convention (this was not a Republican Convention, in case you wondered)?
    Let’s see:
    1. Did Trump make the leap from candidate to someone voters could see in the Oval Office? No one not already under Trump’s spell could be impressed by Trump? (Angry white men w/ no college) Otherwise, Trump’s raging, angry rant Thursday night seemed more indicative of a desperate televangelist or a 1930s fascist leader than a president of the United States.
    2. Trump used all of his speech to use fiery language to try to win favor with struggling or scared Americans. “You pieces of sh– should be scared. And I’m the only one who can help. You need me.”
    3. Trump’s face contorted, his face glistening with sweat and his voice bellowing for long portions of the speech, seemed every bit the image of a dictator of another era. Only his bright-orange-ish makeup reminded us this was not a grainy black-and-while newsreel capturing a master of manipulation from Europe in the 1930s.
    4. No, he did not seem Presidential. It did not help that one day after the convention, Trump was back speculating about Sen. Ted Cruz’s father’s alleged role in the JFK assassination plot. Nor did it help when Trump revealed how stupid he is by saying he would abandon NATO Allies invaded by Russia. Something even his VP pick Pence distanced himself from who insisted that “No, Trump would absolutely stand by our allies and treaty obligations.”
    5. Did he unite the Party? No. Everyone is trying to “spin” he did. They are trying HARD. He did NOT unite the Republican Party. Both Ted Cruz and chief of the State of Ohio want Trump to lose. Trump failed miserably. Trump’s reaction? Schoolboy comments about Cruz and Kasich. Not Presidential. That is a “No” on uniting the Party.
    6. White men without college education like Trump. Does anyone else? Who will vote for him? Women? (no). Hispanics? (no). Any ethnic group who is not white? (no). ANY ethnic group? (no) What about younger voters? (no). Ugggghhh. Trump failed with everyone except white men who never went to college.

    Gonna be tough.

    • Wayne, you have been wrong so far about everything you predicted. Why should anyone listen to YOU?

        • A “poll” conducted by a blogger? You have got to be sh*tting me Wayne. You really are desperate for your man Johnson, who BTW is going nowhere in this election. The very best you can hope for is that he might pull some votes away from Trump, but it would be an insignificant amount, as past elections have shown for Libertarian candidates.

      • Did you get credentials for the democrat convention too? Seeing as how you spend so much effort on getting democrats elect to positions locally, I would think they would want to recognize your efforts at their convention.

        • ….can we address this Wayne thing.
I get it that “you have fun” calling me “Wayne.” Good for you.
But…DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK I am Wayne Parke? Are you f’n nuts? Delusional?

    • Jon Stewart nailed it. Ivanka Trump made a warm introduction for her father, and then an angry groundhog came out and vomited on people for an hour.
Trump’s little movie was pretty stunning, too. His big decision was whether to “move on up to Manhattan” or play in Queens. No mention was made of the Viet Nam war which was raging in 1968,the year in question. Trump famously told Howard Stern that avoiding getting a sexually transmitted disease was his “own private Viet Nam.” What a patriot!

    • You summed up PAK’s hero perfectly. That won’t help angry, bitter PAK get back in touch with reality because he has passed the point of no return.
Like you, I toyed with the idea of voting for Gary Johnson, but PAK and JB have convinced me that I must not “flush” my vote. There is too much at risk, because it is possible that a strong third party run could draw off enough electoral votes to throw the election to the House.
Here’s hoping that you think about that when it is just you and your ballot in that voting booth. We can’t risk a Trump presidency. Feel free to berate me for my stance, but I am going to vote my conscience.

    • It would not surprise me if a bunch of your chamber types threw tantrums. The good thing is that we are now able to identify more easily, by their actions, where the impediments to rebuilding the party lie.

      • Uh….you are swimming in and drinking the Kool-Aid Pressanykey
…..Trump is not re-building the Republican Party.
        He’s building another Party.
The US Republican Party is American Business, The US Chamber of Commerce including the Koch Brothers.

You are having fun, for like 100 more days…..splashing puddles in the summertime sun.
That’s it. Have some more Kool-Aid…..Press.

    • ….calm down Press. Stop worrying about the Democrats.
Gary Johnson and The Libertarian Party is the key in this election.

      • What is key here on this website is your dismal track record when it comes to making predictions.

        • What ? I have no idea what you’re talking about Press.
And…you are trying to change the subject….w/ a distraction….I guess.
Gary Johnson and the Libertarian Party is the key in this election.

  3. In today’s C&P Cheers, jeers, tears.
Cheers that ERC has rented that CVS building for $1500 a month for 30 years.
It pays for initial investment it is stated, but does not pay for the $107,000
in repairs. It does not mention in cost of that $535,000 “in interest”, over those 30 years!

Can someone remind me why this property was bought by local government in the first place?

(example of what this sight once was! mostly about local affairs! now back to the school yard bickering!)

    • The $1,500 /month rent does not even come close to covering the even low interst carrying cost of the investment by the city. The mere carrying cost of the investmetn is negative.

    • It’ll be our new Dialysis Mecca. Da Vita got da building. That must have been their plan all along. After CVS hatted up. After a couple of other possible marks put up their signage but never opened. After the service dog thing fizzled.

That area is really looking great now with its bike lane promises and all. Just what they needed down there. The hulking yellowstone has a voracious appetite. It was a ward of the taxpayers for quite a while. It appears to have finally been emancipated but I wouldn’t bet on it. If it was worth anything Jerry Turner would have bought it.
      https://s26.postimg.org/49sl7zth5/CVS.jpg

      • Very true about Jerry Turner! Da Vita has a great location there, thanks to the bike lanes. Dialysis patients can ride their bikes to treatments instead of coming by taxi or ambulances.

        • “Dialysis patients can ride their bikes to treatments instead of coming by taxi or ambulances…”

          Not sure if kidding…

        • Yep, that too was part of the plan. Thank God those are going to be ‘protected’ bike lanes. I think if I was going I’d take a taxi or a zip line before I’d get into an ambulance, around here anyway.

I see what Winnecke meant last week when he was spinning his dismissal from consideration as governor: ‘I am proud of the shining example that the city of Evansville has become for our great state…’ . Evansville is his oyster and he’s not leaving just yet. Now if he could just scrape up enough money, around $300K, to raze those roasted buildings on Main like he said he was going to do, things would be looking up on that end of Main Street too. Or at least a little less carbonized. This shining city would then shine a little brighter.

          • Dude, if we could somehow convince the city fathers to finance a zip line as part of all these…improvements downtown, I’ll self induce kidney failure just so I can take advantage of it. Replacing METS with a zip line system? #coolestthingever

          • No, no. Gondolas.
Al Sharpie stopped at our table at Waffle House, and he’s got it all figured out.
            Gondolas to replace METS.

  4. Here’s something that I found on the City Council agenda that concerns me:

    RESOLUTION C-2016-22 FINANCE McGINN

A Resolution of the Common Council of the City of Evansville Approving an Ordinance of the Vanderburgh County Income Tax Council Establishing the Percentage Credit Allowed for Homesteads for 2017 and Casting the Votes of the Common Council of the City of Evansville

If you recall the previous attempts to do away with the Homestead Tax Credit, Mc Ginn has tried to do away with it before, Maybe people need to show up in force at this meeting, too. Just sayin’…

  5. Anybody else pleasantly surprised that there didn’t appear to be a whole lot of civic unrest in Cleveland during the week of the RNC? Not sure if everybody was just behaving, or if certain groups didn’t bother to show up, or if Cleveland PD just really had their act together, but it was nice to not have to watch mass chaos and destruction in another American city.

  6. For those who saw the rollout of Pence, you should take a look at the right way to introduce a running mate. Hillary’s introduction of Tim Kaine is the way a sane and reasonable leader does it. He is speaking and showing the public that not only is he highly qualified, but he is a great attack dog. The sad and sloppy intro of the Sanctimonious Scowler by the would be Sociopath-in-Chief was just a sample of things to come if people don’t show up and vote for Hillary, who I support because SHE ISN’T DONALD TRUMP.

    • The vice-presidential debates will be fun to watch. Kaine with his ready smile and actual accomplishments v. Scowlin’ Mad Pence. Ho ho ho.

Orange will have Pence so beat down by then with his condescending abuse of the poor guy that he might have to trade him in before the debates, adding to his humiliation. (‘I’ve decided to go back to my beloved Indiana to spend more time with my family…’).

      • The last straw will probably be when Pence overhears Mop Head trying to get Karen to do a spread in GQ.

On a side note, polls are showing Trump’s main support coming from less than college educated all the way down to hombres who don’t have the intelligence to even capitalize their A’s and V’s.

Where in the Hell are they finding people in this country who are so damn illiterate they can’t even capitalize their A’s and V’s?

        Must be Appalachia….

      • Bandana, is Jeb of Warrick County in Philly giving interviews on why he wouldn’t support Trump after the thumb up photo.

  7. vote harry clinton…… because ekaybe the 3 day evansville housing inspector said so………that should win over…….. nobody……lollllllllllll……….on a side note i see that a latino libtard dem from california sanchez is accusing commie barry hussein of being a racist for backing her opponent libtard blackie harris california for state senate……………kinda like libtards all in for the gays and then let the muslims come to America believing in sharia law that killing the gays are okie dokie smokie……………………….liberalism is without a doubt a mental disorder…………http://drudgereport.com/

    • It might ease your mind to know that I was also a three-year City department Operations Manager, Al. No wonder you and your ilk are so in love with Don the Con. You do know that the Constitution prohibits Sharia law, don’t you? Oh, I forgot that you’re just a lying bigot.

      • deadbeat lying ekabe laws and the constitution will not stop the sharia law gay hating muslim from the killing of the gays………..city department operations manager……lollllll……just one more of your liberal lies…………you are a dumbass…………liberalism is without a doubt a mental disorder………

          • No mushrooms either AL.
You need to stop taking drugs AL.
            When we read your comments,
it’s like hearing: “This is your brain on drugs.”

  8. a bunch of people are not seeing the trees cause the forest is blocking their view
wake up ,Hillary Clinton should be on trial for lying to the Feds and for treason and
instead most of you fools might elect her ,,,darn she couldn’t even handle her husband
    Vote Trump 2016

    • YOU wake up! Trump is a deranged egomaniac who wants to be elected dictator, ala Hitler. He’s even using the American Nazi slogan and paints a picture of an America that looks like the Blade Runner set. Hell, pathetic Pence, who didn’t even vote for him is the best he could get for a running mate.
Hillary Clinton, who was not my first choice, was not indicted. You do know about “Innocent until proven guilty”, don’t you? You just choose to apply it the way you want. I will vote for her purely because she is not Donald Trump.
Btw, the comment about not being able to “handle her husband” shows what a low-life you, and most Trumpers, really are!

    • You really shouldn’t post things like this. Most of the Trumpers are stupid enough to take it seriously.

      • Thanks Press. I’m voting for Gary Johnson, Libertarian for President.
We need real conservative leadership instead of Hillary.

  9. Be careful everybody. The temperature is only 89, but thanks to the humidity the heat index is 105. That is heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and heart attack weather.

  10. People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and … when Donald Trump wins the election for the Presidency of the United States, for the first time 8 years, I will be proud of my country because being GREAT will finally making a comeback.

When Donald Trump becomes the President of the United States, and Mike Pence is the Vice President, for the first time in 8 years, I will be really proud of my country … not just because Mr. Trump & Mr. Pence have done well, but because I think people are hungry for American greatness! I have been desperate to see our country moving in the direction to be GREAT again, and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment of the past 8 years. NO MORE WILL AMERICA BE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD!

Let’s pray for a Trump Presidency. The last 8 years, America has been DAMNED. It’s time to make America BLESSED again!

Hellary Clinton has slipped by so far with her lies, tricks and nefarious ways. However, HER chickens are coming home to roost. That will be day for America to rejoice in the TRUTH of: “Orange is the new Hillary”

“A vote for a Clinton by taxpayers is the same thing as a vote for Colonel Sanders by the chickens!”

    • …..non-college graduate white men love Donald Trump.
Hoyt, we get it. Trump has your number, and you will believe anything he says.
….the best and most pristine example of how Trump LIES and EXPLOITS these fellas:
Trump tells them he “will bring back coal jobs”….when it is as plain as sunshine, clean, inexpensive natural gas is killing coal jobs. Trump won’t bring those jobs back as long as there is natural gas in the ground (and there is a LOT).

Enjoy it Hoyt. But he’s Sarah Palin in a suit, telling you what you want to hear, to sell books, hats and TV Shows.
This is just tragic folks. He’s lying to you…he always says bombastic things to get TV ratings.
      I think….you are forgetting…..your guy – he’s a reality TV star.
That dog don’t hunt. I don’t care how many times the guy says it is the best hunting dog in America.

      • Don,
Your first statement proves that “non college white men” are, in fact, intelligent and informed voters.

If you want LIES and BOMBASTIC statements…tune in this week to the DNC Convention.

When Mr. Trump wins, we’ll turn the dogs loose on the terrorist loving, freedom hating liberals that are destroying America!

        • “turn the dog’s loose on the liberals”…….? Wow.

I can see Trump’s anger was addressed to the right audience. “You pieces of sh–, you should be scared. And I’m the only one who can help you.”……Hoyt, he knows exactly how to talk to you.
You’ve been losing elections since you don’t know when Hoyt….and after this loss (no one except white men like Trump – not women who are the largest voting bloc, not hispanics, not ANY ethnic group, not young voters), it’s off to Iran for you Hoyt.

  11. Rhetoric – the undue use of exaggeration or display; bombast.
The RNC in Cleveland has just finished.
The DNC in Philadelphia is about to begin.
    The debates haven’t taken place.
The rhetoric on the CCO is already approaching the outer limits.
It’s hotter than blue bazes outside and the humidity is stifling.
Give it a break people. Save some of your acerbic witticisms for after the debates and before the election.

    • 100 more days of this b-s, PCD.
I agree with you, but it’s only 100 more days.
Then Donald Trump will turn into “the new universally thought of as disgusting Dick Morris” and we can move on.

      • Trump will not be President……the United States Republican Party won’t allow that.
US Chamber of Commerce, US Business, the Koch Brothers, the US military industrial complex…..all dedicated to a Trump loss. Fun for 100 days…enjoy it boys.

        • Don’t leave out the girls.

I’m sure Laura and eviltaxpayer are going to enjoy it to….

          • REG…..I’m in Philly w/ Ghost and Al Sharpie, and we just go thrown out of Independence Brewing cause Al got caught smoking a joint under the brewhouse. You should come join us, and hopefully you have a bigger car. Ghost insisted we can make enough money doing Uber, but his the passengers keep getting pissed cause his Smart car is too damn small with all of us piled in, and he won’t go above 15mph cause he doesn’t want to use too much gas. AL keeps insisting we see Hondo and his wife in a bar near Temple, so we’re on our way…We haven’t seen any Democrats yet, unless you count the whole city of Philadelphia.

          • What’s al doing in something smart?

            Thanks, but no go bro.

But tell Lindsey Graham al to get his Obama blow up doll out of the passenger seat, drop you off for more room, and quit allowing the spectacle of Ghost and Billy Bolin making out on top of the car and maybe he’ll come up with enough jack he won’t have to ride the train back like him and Parke did from Cleveland.

Basically, I’m too old for that shit.

But thanks for the offer Becker.

            Later….

    • LKB, Regulator, Mr. Becker, Ghost? Any of the usual left wing supporters ready to jump in and explain the Mensa like genius of your beloved John Kerry?

  12. Did Donald Trump unite the Republican Party w/ his Trump Convention?

Let’s ask Ronald Reagan’s voice, his chief speechwriter, Peggy Noonan !! :
    (From the Wall Street Journal)

“Donald Trump won the Republican primary in Cleveland. Did the GOP come together under Trump?

They have not. From day one of the convention it was clear the GOP is a bitterly divided party and not even bothering to hide it. It failed to unite not because it had poor leadership or the nominee didn’t know how to do it, though both are true. More killingly it failed to unite because it didn’t want to. Donald Trump failed to change his style in a way that would have given cover to those who would have, with considerable relief, joined him.

I am frequently told by Trump supporters ‘Donald Trump is like Reagan, a skilled outsider.’ Mostly by idiots.”

    • Trump’s right hand jerking up and down while giving his hour and a half doom and gloom America sucks tirade was hard not to notice.

Since no one knows anything Trump will actually do if elected president, I believe I have a good idea now what he’ll be doing when he gets that 3 AM call.

      And it ain’t pretty….

  13. Wikileaks dump:

    5-3-2016

    from: email@e.washingtonpost.com

    to: jkaplan@dnc.org

[“What Democrats say worries them most about Trump in the fall is his sheer unpredictability, and the degree to which he represents something larger that is going on in the electorate.”]

    * * * * * * * * *
Kaplan is the National Finance Director for the Democratic National Committee. I wonder if Cara Mason, the RNC National Finance Director receives is on the Washington Post’s email list?

    • The Russians are doing all they can to help Trump become dictator, aren’t they? The coming days are going to be interesting when Trump is expected to explain to his Chumps HOW he is going to fulfill his fascist promises to them. The problem with that is that the zombies will not even care.
I suspect he’ll never get around to the “how”, nor do I expect him to debate Hillary. Maybe there will be a VP debate, but I doubt it. Kaine is so much more likable and accomplished than Pence that I can’t imagine that Trump would allow the Scowler to appear on the same stage with him.
As for the DNC, I have thought for a long time that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz should leave the chairmanship. I expect she will leave shortly after the convention.

      • Russia see’s a fracture in NATO if Trump is president based off what
Trump said about checking on “bank balance” owed to the USA, before
sending help to the NATO country that’s being molested by Russia.

  14. I just got done talking to my neighbor who is a devout Trump supporter and he said, “The Republican convention was way more organized and fact filled than the Democratic convention.”

I said the Democratic convention won’t start until tomorrow.

    He said, “Oh.”….

    • I also asked him why he is such a Trump supporter thinking he would give me the same ole line of because he tells it like it is.

But he surprised me by saying, “You don’t understand, I’m originally from Mississippi.”

So I said AH HA, got it. Watch the heat today neighbor, wouldn’t want it to effect (affect)? your brain….

  15. BREAKING NEWS: Michael Bloomberg is going to endorse Clinton, although he had not been expected to. He has decided that Trump is so unfit to lead the country that he will endorse and donate to Hillary.

  16. Since he lives in Kenya, I doubt he’ll vote for anybody. This may be the most stupid post ever from you.

    • He wont need a photo ID if the Demos have there way, so yes he may vote for Trump.

  17. C&P has a front page article on “Voting Centers”. It is said that it is convenient for the “mobile people”
for they can go anywhere to vote. Nothing has been said for the voters which are not as mobile.
I see these people who was able to vote at their precinct, within a short walking distance, may find it difficult
to get to the more distant voting center. I can see where these people could give up and not vote because of the challenge. This was done to save the county “chump change” we are told.

I see it as suppressing a certain “party” vote that is opposite of the ones who past SB32 back in 2011, and the county career politician that ushered the voting centers in Vanderburgh county.

    • You’re right Pressanykey.
Both of these major party candidate don’t deserve our vote:
Vote for the True conservative: Gary Johnson, Libertarian….best choice.

  18. She’ll be gone soon. She should have been gone a long time ago. It doesn’t negate the fact that it was Russians who did the hacking and appear to have a vested interest in seeing your guy get elected. Paul Manafort, the Trump campaign manager has direct ties to Putin, so it looks more suspicious than ever. Trumps insane man-crush on Putin, which is shared by a lot of his poorly-educated male followers, would make it easy for the Russians to gain a hold in our foreign policy. Trumps slogan should be changed to ” Let’s Make Russia Great Again.”

  19. BREAKING NEWS!! Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has stepped down as chair of the DNC. Maybe the Democratic convention will not be so boring after all.

    • She is apparently planning to gavel the convention in and back out. Her resignation will be effective when the convention closes and Donna Brazile will act as chairman. DWS seems to think she should address the delegates, though. I really doubt that will happen though.

  20. The Wasserman-Schultz exit is long overdue. They shouldn’t let her gavel the convention in or out. That is not to say the gavel shouldn’t be used, possibly in a bopping capacity on ole Deb’s noggin. She is a longtime puke and nothing in those ‘Wiki-Leaked’ emails would surprise me. At least the Democrats took care of their problem as opposed to the hijacked Republican party letting Orange Doom & Gloom continue to cast his nasty pall over the United States and that once principled party.

The Putin/Drumpf New World Order can be nipped in its nascency this November. Unfortunately we can expect Putin engineered ‘terrorist’ attacks on Drumpf’s behalf to increase in frequency leading up to the election. Trump’s ties to Putin are very disturbing, he has made no secret of his admiration for that KGBer, now we begin to get (at least part of) the rest of the story. Orange cannot be trusted with the intelligence briefings candidates get between the conventions and the general election. Drumpf has done everything but don the brown shirt of a stormtrooper and instead of wising up, his supporters get wetter and more rabid. This latest intervention into American domestic politics by Drumpf’s KGB friends is typical of the insanity that has attended his Hitlerian ascension in taking over the Republican party he so loathes. The Republican Party will rise again in some form once it is cleansed of the deviant Drumpf. America will not be so lucky if Orange and his shirtless KGB buddy Putin have a chance to perfect their takeover of America’s executive branch.

Orange cannot be trusted with the intelligence briefings candidates get between the conventions and the general election. Oops, did I already say that? Well, good.

    • Just because I got on your ass about “A’s” and “V’s” doesn’t mean you have to capitalize everything tommy.

But good job this time bro.

Now we’ll see if Eviltaxpayer is up to the task….

        • You didn’t capitalize your “A” starting your post at 2:44 PM yesterday.

Mr. Law and Order Trump would like some of his lower echelon supporters to look a little more sophisticated if at all possible or he may not be able to pull this charade off.

By the way, I see you have your “N’s” and “O’s” down pat so just work on the “A’s.”

And no, you DO NOT have to try to keep up with tommy by capitalizing everything.

          ………..
