IS IT TRUE OCTOBER 8, 2015

26

IS IT TRUE in one of Mayor Winnecke TV ads clearly states that crime is down under his leadership? …attached below is link showing a complete breakdown of 2013-2014 Crime Report for the City Of Evansville sent to the FBI? …this report shows that crimes in Evansville did increased in 2104?  …we encourage you to click the link below to see the complete breakdown of 2013-2014 Crime Report. http://www.evansvillepolice.com/sites/default/files/files/2014%20EPD%20Annual%20Web%20Report.pdf

IS IT TRUE that Gail Riecken campaign is seemingly moving in the right direction?  …one reason for Mrs. Riecken campaign sharp turn around is that City Councilman John Friend has stopped writing his long and rambling letters about the City Budget issues that only confused people?  …its obvious that the “Riecken For Mayor”  committee has finally figure out that people only want a simple explanation of  the looming financial problems now facing the City because of the overspending habits of the Mayor?

IS IT TRUE that an unexpected issue of the past may beginning to haunt Mayor Winnecke’s re-election efforts?  …that the “STOP THE CONSOLIDATION” group have begun to remind the voters of Evansville about the major role that Mayor Winnecke played is trying to merge City and County Governments?  …they are also reminding people that Mayoral Candidate Gail Riecken was strongly opposed to the Mayor efforts to consolidate City and County governments?

IS IT TRUE another reason why Mrs. Riecken campaign is seemingly beginning to take hold is that we are hearing that some independently and progressive thinking women are openly saying that after 200 years its time for Evansville to elect a qualified female Mayor of Evansville?

IS IT TRUE by the election day the race for Mayor will be  to close to call and could  be decided by a couple of  hundreds votes?

IS IT TRUE the recent EPD charitable fundraiser held at Bennett Motors was a big success?  …according the event spokesperson Sgt. Jason Cullum of the  Evansville Police proceeds will go toward holiday season meals for about 1,000 families and Christmas presents at the Dream Center for about 450 kids?  …Cullum also stated that the remaining proceeds shall go to the “Cops Connecting With Kids” that  will support a trip to Disney World next year for about 40 pupils from Glenwood Leadership Academy and Cedar Hall Community School? …we would like to commend members of local enforcement for doing something big for the disadvantage of this community?

IS IT TRUE  yesterday we ask Sgt. Jason Cullum of the Evansville Police Department  if the local “Connecting Cops and Kids” fundraising group was approved as non-profit organization with the IRS?   … Mr. Cullum response was; “The group you have referenced is One on One: “Connecting Cops and Kids”. In your email,  you have incorrectly listed us as using the “Connecting Cops and Kids” name.  We are “Cops Connecting with Kids”.  We have different names and different missions”.  …he also added that;  “We raise money on behalf of IRS approved non-profits that provide services to kids and low income families. The money raised goes directly to those entities”.   “Our efforts are in the same spirit as other groups who have raised money on behalf of Easter Seals, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Santa Clothes Club, and other non-profits”.

IS IT TRUE that todays the unscientific but trendy CCO  “READERS Poll”  ask “IF the election was held today for Mayor of Evansville who would you vote for” ?  …please take time and vote?

Please take time and vote in today’s “Readers Poll”. Don’t miss reading today’s Feature articles because they are always an interesting read. 1. Is it true the Cullum was the rat in Rick Davis camp, reporting back to Winneke on everything he learned and was the person responsible for the arrest of Alex Jarvis at the Fall Festival? Hope you are enjoying the new job Jason

    • Justin Jarvis was arrested because he an active warrant for his arrest issued by a Judge for failing to appear for a Court hearing. Blaming Jarvis arrest on Rick Davis or Mayor Winnecke is just plain silly.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Just corrected our mistake. Now you can vote on our ‘Readers Poll” that list all Mayoral candidates.

  2. “its obvious that the “Riecken For Mayor” committee has finally figure out that people only want a simple explanation of the looming financial problems now facing the City because of the overspending habits of the Mayor?”

    Here you go:

    ” Hey, there’s no f— in money”.

    “Exactly !”

    • Mr. Friend may have caught the attention of more people than you might realize. Some people, like me, need detailed facts to make a decision. As Candidate Weaver Pointed out – two Certified Public Accountants, John Friend and Anna Hargis have two quite different opinions on city finance. I have a simple crusade for mowing the grass and hauling off the trash and the city officials tell me they do not have money for that basic service. Being a CPA I can appreciate Mr. Friends analysis that should convince anyone with even the basic understanding of finances that we have a problem. That is why I am campaigning door too door for honest representation for the neighborhoods and asking people to Vote Anna B Melcher rather than the long winded Anna Hargis who seems to want to ignore the facts and focus on supporting all the bad ideas from the Current Mayor and his Staff with a flowery sales pitch.

      • I am so grateful that George Lumley, CPA, is out campaigning to help the Melchers get a second finger in the pie. It is true that Anna Melcher is completely unqualified, does not know the issues, and has no positions of her own, but the important thing is that she will do exactly as the party tells her. We need more of these empty-headed politicians who don’t bother to pretend that they have any knowledge or ideas of their own. Some progressives would feel embarrassed at campaigning for a complete non-entity, which is why I am so glad that George Lumley, CPA, has taken this task to heart!

  3. No comments from the CCO regarding “Sign-gate” and the lack of an apology from the Riecken camp?

    • I’ve got a comment on it. It shows the desperation of the failed Winnecke administration when they seize on a non-issue to distract the voters from the miserable job Llordie has done in office. They are fortunate to have something like you to try to keep the non-issue alive. Winnecke owes the people of Evansville an apology for taking his paycheck under false pretenses. He has been a terrible embarrassment to Evansville.

      • You know, I was somewhat skeptical that Representative Riecken had the kind of nastiness, lack of ethics, dishonesty, and bad character to be a successful Democratic candidate. I am please to say that I misjudged her! Get one of your mentally unhinged supporters to make a sign to whip his fellow deranged local Democrats into a frenzy…then accuse the Republican Winnecke’s campaign of having made and posted the sign, knowing full well that your supporter was responsible…then continue to lie, and finally snap that the whole thing is a distraction! Brilliant! This is exactly the kind of sleazy dishonesty that this city needs so badly. Soon Representative Riecken will be Mayor Riecken spending money like water and returning people like you to the low-level patronage jobs from which you were ejected.

  4. Winnecke would be doing better if he’d just come clean and take a turn to the honest. He just doesn’t have it in him. He limped into office under tainted circumstances and will hobble out the same way. Evansville just simply can’t afford him. Lock up your Homestead Tax Credit until he clears.

  5. I thought I’d post this once again until one of the other news organizations picks this up and does some investigating.

Recently I received an official copy of the “Restraining Order Petition” between At-Large City Councilman Jonathan Weaver and one of his ex-wifes thats on file at the Vanderburgh County Clerk office. I find the Court findings concerning this petition extremely interesting.

I originally thought that I would make this public document available to the local media. However after a second thought, I decided to let our local media do the research and report the findings of the Court concerning a “Restraining Order Petition” filed against an elected public official.

If Courier and Press, TV Channels 25, 7. 14 and 44, and the City County Observer would like to have an official copy of this “Restraining Order Petition” they could pick one up at the Vanderburgh County Clerks Office. For your information I also understand that Mr. Weaver may have two (2) such petitions on file but the Judge sealed one of them from public view.

Finally, in my opinion the local media are duty bond to research and make this information public!

AFTER HEARING TESTIMONY FROM BOTH SIDES THE COURT CAN MAKE THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS:

    a. The Court could rule that Petitioner has shown, by a preponderance of the evidence, that domestic or family violence, stalking, or a sex offense has occurred sufficient to justify the issuance of this Order.

    b. The Court could rule if this order does/does not protect an intimate partner or child.

    c. The Court could determine if the Respondent represents a credible threat to the safety of the Petitioner or a member of the Petitioner’s household.

    d. The Court could determine if relief is necessary to bring about a cessation of the violence or the threat of violence.

    THE COURT COULD ORDER:

    1. The Court could enjoined the “Respondent” from threatening to commit or committing acts of domestic or family violence, stalking, or a sex offense against the Petitioner and the following designated family or household members.

    2. The Court could prohibited the “Respondent” from harassing, annoying, telephoning, contacting, or directly or indirectly communicating with the “Petitioner”.

    3. The Court could remove the “Respondent” and excluded him from the Petitioner’s residence.

    4. The Court can ordered the “Respondent” to stay away from the residence, school, and/or place of employment of the Petitioner. The Court could further ordered the “Respondent” to stay away from the following place(s) that is/are frequented by the Petitioner and/or the Petitioner’s family or household members.

    • Remember how rabidly the local media shills went after SBR for her drunken Facebook rant? Not a peep about Weaver. That’s all you need to know.

    • Yeah, weavers a political pig, everybody knows it. I’m just thankful his input doesn’t have affect by governance on me. The little creeps a pig.

  6. Long time reader first time contributor…

Where is the main stream media, it is their job to investigate and post the truth. What a tremendous failure between city finances and the major increase in crime, with officers time used on fund raising.

In response to, Jason Cullum congrats on your reply it lands somewhere between arrogance and a Clinton answer. So please answer the question are you an approved 501c(3) organization or just acting as such. If you are not approved by the IRS have you notified all the donors including Bennett motors that the contribution is not tax deductible?? Where are the funds held, and under what business entity?

Also can CCO have an accounting of the number of officers working duty time, or an overtime basis at the Bennett Motors event. Also please do the same for the previous Disney trip, was paid also? This accounting should include you and the chief’s time along with the hourly cost. Please be truthful.
    Thank you for your cooperation,

    • Sounds like another good cause handled poorly. I would suggest that they take a lesson from the City/DMD/Brownfields Non-profit 501c3 and just ask the City Council for a $700k gift from Riverboat moneys. They could buy more meals and send more kids and that would make everyone happier. Both the police group and the Brownfields could have a food booth at on Franklin like a lot of the other charities; but, I cant recommend that after working in one yesterday for a few hours. I didn’t think I would make it to my car and couldn’t gt out of bed this morning until 10. On top of that I had to eat the food that I prepared wrong. yuck.

  7. Are we really to believe that it is beyond the capabilities of the Evansville Courier&Press to access this information?:

    http://www.evansvillepolice.com/sites/default/files/files/2014%20EPD%20Annual%20Web%20Report.pdf

Obviously the Mayor is disconnected from reality when it comes to crime in Evansville, and the establishment media is not going to call him on it.

Mayor Winnecke is disconnected from reality in other areas as well. Especially when it comes to downtown Evansville.

    http://www.tristatehomepage.com/news/one-on-one-with-evansville-mayor-lloyd-winnecke

Just look at those images of the convention hotel in this video. What is going to be built will look NOTHING like that!

His projected economic impact figures for this hotel and the IU Medical School of $600,000,000. annually by 2030 are made up out of whole cloth. Just as the projected economic impact for the downtown arena was made up out of whole cloth by the previous administration.

All this cheer leading reminds one of the lead up to the Tech Bubble collapse of March 2000, or the Subprime Mortgage collapse of September 2008. Whistling past the graveyard is never a viable option for taking direct action. The reality of the situation is that Evansville is facing significant cuts if it expects to submit a budget to the DLGF that comes close to the projected revenue it will actually be receiving next year. When will this administration start producing and publishing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR)? The citizens of Evansville should demand that those reports be produced.

  8. Mr. Cullum, If this event wasn’t a part of Fred Rogers Company “Cops Connecting With Kids” organization, then what Not-For Profit organization ran the fundraiser? Do they have a tax ID number with the IRS? Who is their Executive Director? Who is on their Board of Trustees? Who is ensuring that these moneys are used correctly? Who oversees the finances of this organization? Who ensures that 100% of the proceeds does to the kids and not elsewhere?

I think if we, the public, are being forced to foot the bill for it, we deserve answers to these questions.

  9. Winnecke’s biggest campaign commercial claim is that the trash is getting picked up. WHY IS HE STILL AROUND? His administration IS Evansville’s blight!

    • I think the mayor is referring to the paper and soda cans around downtown and Haney’s corner that the volunteers pick up. A little of this in the neighborhoods; but, the big trash piles like the couches and burn out houses that have been here since the mayor took office are not important. Communities that asked for dumpsters to load large item in to keep them from being thrown in the alley can not even get them. I have noticed some in the more affluent neighborhoods take their garbage to the less affluent inner city streets and set things out. I presume they don’t want the garbage in their neighborhood or think some in the less affluent neighborhood might want their trash.

      • Thank you for your community spirit, Mr. George Lumley, CPA! Many accountants are busy adding and subtracting numbers and stuff in the service of the running dogs of capitalism, but you have the time to stake out our affluent neighborhoods and to follow rich Republicans bringing their trash to dump into inner-city neighborhoods. Have you considered patrolling the affluent areas of the far east side with a ruler and measuring the height of the grass on the lawns so that a (ha-ha) anonymous weed ordinance complaint can be made?

        Keep up the good work!

  10. It’s also interesting to me that the FOP didn’t seem to do their due diligence with regards to their endorsement of candidates, as they have endorsed a candidate who it seems has had restraining orders placed against him. Do the FOP run background checks on candidates to be sure there is nothing in their background that could lead to the embarrassment (as if there hasn’t been enough lately) of the Evansville Police Department? Shouldn’t someone who has a history of restraining orders and social misconduct been given a stronger look before the FOP endorses?

I still hope we can receive answers from Sgt Cullum and Chief Bolin about this apparent charity event that was conducted ON OUR DIME. It appears that this organization is not an LLC, nor is it a tax-exempt non-profit. So, I reiterate my questions:

    1. Who is overseeing the funds?
    2. Who is ensuring these funds are not misused?
    3. Who is in charge of the disbursement of these funds?
    4. Who is acting as the “checks and balances” of this organization?
    5. Will the organization refund the city of Evansville the cost of having officers ON OUR DIME ON THEIR DAY OFF MAKING TIME AND A HALF at this fundraiser?

I applaud charity efforts, however, it appears in this case, much like with the rest of the Winnecke Administration, there is a lack of ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY in this event.

  11. Whine all you want. Winnecke will continue as mayor. riecken is wasting money and time.
