  1. Did anyone see socialist McLoed’s political cartoon in Sunday’s Courier & Press inferring Trump supporters were backward hillbillies while praising Joshua “Jeb” Claybourn Esq for claiming Trump was against free speech and peddles fear? The Courier and Press could not have been more insulting as to how they portrayed Trump supporters.

      • Ok, but you shouldn’t ignore that they are BOTH compulsive liars. Face it, you can’t come up with anything positive for your guy, only negative for the other side.

        • Bing-O, Bob! We have a choice between rotten fish and raw chicken. Both sicken people, sometimes to the point of death.

          • “We have a choice between rotten fish and raw chicken” Have you been taking internet courses from the Bandana University of prose? That’s pretty good.

        • Trump and Hillary are both liars and I won’t vote for either one of them. Neither one of them is fit to be president, so if Bernie isn’t on the ballot I guess I’m gong to be a libertarian.

          • Who’s running on the Libertarian ticket these days for President. I can’t stand trump and dislike Hillary. What’s a guy to do?

        • Other than that Trump has created actual jobs rather than positions, made investors rich rather than tapping them for political donations to his foundation, and became a billionaire by changing New York’s skyline rather than millions giving speeches to wall street, I can’t think of any difference. Well, maybe being found lacking more in integrity than Nixon, the Whitewater scandal, cattle futures, sleeping through Benghazi, and lost records and Emails would count for something, but what’s those things in comparison to Trump University?

          • Hilarious seeing a holier than thou born again supporting a dirt bag like trump. People like you are why I don’t trust religious people.

          • Ahh, I see by your snibling response that you found my comment after all. I bet if I supported Hillary I would be as holy as you, but who am I to judge? That’s you. Funny how you falsely accuse people like me of wanting to establish a theocracy, but then falsely accuse me of compromising my faith when I don’t vote like you think I should. I wonder what it says about your character to support Hillary and her baggage? But again, who am I to judge?

          • Whoa boy! Are you saying Trump University is the only baggage Trump is carrying? It does disqualify him from being President, though. Felons are not permitted to hold the highest office in the land. If he wins, he’ll have to be removed from office. Once the Civil case is won by the plaintiffs, the criminal charges will proceed.

          • First, there is no felony charge nor will there be one. .
Second, I say he settles out of court. Third, it’s Hillary who might be up for the felony charge. In fact, it might be treason, but nothing will come of it or she will be pardoned by Obama.

          • IE, surely you don’t think the ability of a person born wealthy to stay wealthy (or become even wealthier) is tantamount to being qualified to run a nation? I would love for my president to have some business sense, to understand on a deep level the pros and cons and ins and outs of U.S. capitalism, and to have had to make hard financial decisions in their lives. That said, the ability to make piles of money are not a primary qualification for president, nor is it particularly impressive in and of itself (especially if you’re born rich).

Also, Hillary is the devil. 🙂

          • Delta, why wouldn’t business success be a qualification, and why would being born rich distract from his successes? Beats the qualifications most in the race. Don’t get me wrong though, He’s not a savior.

        • Trump “positives”

          He likes this country.

He is not a career politician.

          He understands business and finance.

He will not let political correctness stop him from doing what is right.

He has actually accomplished something in life.

          * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Hillary Clinton’s negatives are off the charts. Too many to list, but being a compulsive liar who has lived off of taxpayers all of her adult life, and has accomplished nothing on her own, would be up towards the top of her list.

          All In For Trump!

          Never Hillary.

          • From Jeff Sessions –

For the first time in a long time, this November will give Americans a clear
choice on perhaps the most important issue facing our country and our
civilization: whether we remain a nation-state that serves its own people, or
whether we slide irrevocably toward a soulless globalism that treats humans as
interchangeable widgets in the world market.

In Donald Trump, we have a forceful advocate for America. Trump has said that
our trade, immigration and foreign policies must be changed to protect the
interests of American workers and our nation.

In Hillary Clinton, we have a committed globalist. Clinton was an ardent
supporter of the Trans-Pacific Partnership — which surrenders American
sovereignty to an international union of 12 countries — and has clearly left the
door wide open to enacting the pact if elected.

There is only one sure way to defeat the TPP, and that is to defeat Hillary
            Clinton.

Meanwhile, Clinton’s immigration platform is the most radical in our history.
Freezing deportations. Ending detentions. Halting enforcement. She’d expand
President Obama’s illegal amnesty decree, effectively creating open borders.

            USA TODAY

            The Trump train: Our view

Clinton’s extremist proposal economically targets our poor African-American and
Hispanic communities whose wages and job prospects are being steadily eroded by
the huge influx of new foreign workers.

Yet some Republicans persist in saying that they don’t know whether Mr. Trump is
a “real conservative.” This charge misleads in two ways. First: Mr. Trump’s
cautious approach to mass migration, transnational trade commissions and
            nation-building are, by definition, conservative.

Second, the divide between Trump and Clinton on the role of government could not
be more stark. Consider just a few of the things President Trump would do after
taking the oath: repeal Obamacare; nominate constitutionalist justices; replace
Obama’s radical Cabinet appointments; reduce taxes and regulations; produce more
American energy; rein in the out-of-control EPA; and cancel Obama’s illegal
            amnesties.

The choice is a simple one: Do we want a country that serves our people, or not?

Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., was the first senator to endorse Donald Trump.

      • Joe, great article. Too bad the unbiased press is in England. Sadly, the caricatures of rednecks and white trash supporting Trump were found Sunday in socialist elitist McLoed’s political cartoon on the Editorial page of the Courier & Press.

        • The Republican’s “God”, Ronald Reagan, had achieved none of these qualifications that are being demanded now? Do I take someone did not vote for Reagan because of that?

      • Trump building a wall appears ludicrous, except he is a builder, Mexico has already built a wall against Guatemala, and even though a wall is over the stop, it is more appealing than the line in the sand our current administration and its predecessor are afraid to draw. Mexico has a lot to lose in this border war, and I am of the opinion that a serious threat of a wall might have the same affect as Reagan’s Brandenburg challenge to the USSR. The Soviets took Reagan serious because he was serious in his threats. No one takes Obama serious. They will take Trump serious.

          • Sorry, Steve, but your opinion would be more effective if you had something other than semantics to pick at. And ask Mexico if they find their wall affective.

          • Are you aware there are already many sections of walls at the southern border? There is a double wall/fence from the Pacific Ocean to beyond Mexicali on the California border. There are 4 or 5 border crossings for people with papers going back and forth. There is a large workforce that commutes across the border in both directions. You have to get pretty far from civilization for there to be no wall already. Why was it put there? In spite of the wall and the INS guys people get in and out. Getting out of the US is actually very easy. Mexico doesn’t even check for passports. They want us to come over on foot, on bike, or by car or bus to spend money. Planes bound for Mexico fly over walls every minute. Maybe the wall is needed to keep us in.

          • I think the wall is more symbolic than practical. Mexico has a lot to lose with tighter border control.

          • This Country does not exist to make “foreign leaders” happy. They will ALWAYS have their own interests at heart. Only the globalists would bow to foreign interest that is detrimental to our own Country.

    • Trmp is clearly against free speech. He wants to trash the First Amendment so he can sue people for criticizing him, and said so. That being said, the media may be unfairly characterizing Trump supporters, although he does “enjoy” the support of the least educated among us. George W. Bush is proof that you don’t have to be a mouth-breathing knuckle-dragger to be dangerously ignorant. He found a “smart man” to serve as his primary decision maker for quite some time, and that is how we got the shadow presidency of Dick Cheney.

      • Trump can’t do any more damage to the 1st than Obama and SCOTUS has already caused. Hillary could though with the likelihood of five appointees. I can see Barack and Bill fettering out truth, justice, and the american way for the next two or three decades.

  2. IS IT TRUE very little is being done to correct our dilapidated Water and Sewer system? …the cost to bring them up to EPA standards will be a billion dollars? …
Is it true the Water and Sewer utility has spent millions on studies and new new meters and administrative employees without fixing a pipe. To be fair their record of fixing pipes is not good. What ever happened to all the home owners with bad pipes?

  3. What both republicans and democrats do not understand is Trump and Sanders are the “None of the above” candidates. If this choice were given it would be the overwhelming favorite. This is why I think Trump will be our next president. There are a lot more cynics then believers. Obama stole that and he aint passing it on.

  4. Is anyone else having an issue when trying to vote in the reader’s poll? When I voted prior to lately, it would immediately show me the results of voting. Now, it appears that I can’t vote and can’t get the results.

    • I have to sign in through Google. Internet Explorer won’t allow me to vote, either.

    * * * * * * * * * *

This whole episode does not pass the smell test. A couple of years before the primary someone from out of town with no history in local politics manages to cinch the primary candidacy for the district 1 seat on the county council.

Then, when it is too late for any other candidate to file to run for the office, the out of towner drops out of the race.

I believe that republican precinct committeemen in district 1 will be led by the nose by the establishment committeemen in that district to choose the candidate that will be most likely to lose in a race against the democrat Ben Shoulders, who is also a member of the establishment.

    Yet another ONB employee:

    • PAK,

I’ve never known any Libertarians to lay down and roll over. Out of all of the people that I’ve had political debates with, the Libertarians are the most tenacious people to deal with. I would not expect anything less from the mystery candidate. Given the fact that the countywide races usually go Republican, this should be a hotly contested race. Even with Ben Shoulders drawing some bipartisan support.

      • The cold spell in hell continues. I think you are right about Libertarians, PD. Mrs. Kasha is a perfect non-viable candidate for Wayne to tout, though.

    • Becky Kasha should fill the need perfectly. She will meet the fate of other Core opponents, IMHO.

      • Yeah, and if she gets elected Joe Kiefer’s stock will shoot up to new levels. Represented on the county commission and the county council. Is this payback for that retirement investment plan change deal that went south?

  6. I want to see what the Core people are talking about. If their on the level I’m behind them. God knows we need some good sense in Evansville. The big shooting Sunday morning at the place that used to be Cecil’s was about five blocks from where the $19 million bike path will be. Does anybody really think that’s a good idea?

  7. Both of the major parties’ nominees make me nauseous, and I’m not unusual. If I have to choose between them, I’ll vote for Hillary. At least if she wins, it will inspire good women to run for office.

  8. liberal evansville is nothing more nothing less than a microcosm of how America has been run the last 8yrs under commie barry and to some degree under rino bush……………political promises ………….lies………..deficits skyrocketing…………crime………………………………poverty……..time for a true business man that cares for America………….Trump……..2016………..http://www.usdebtclock.org/

    • There is nothing sharp about you Al, you are a true right wing dim bulb

  9. Editor – Officer Callum or Cullum? I believe you’ll find it’s Sgt. Jason Cullum.

  10. I want to know who all the Mayor and her husband took to Germany and if we paid for any of it. Does anybody know?

    • We did not fund the vacation that Winnecke and Christmas are currently on. The money was found in the gutter in front of the German American Bank on Hebron by Local Personality Coures. He could have striped the CVS lot on his little fixer-upper in Jacobsville with it. He also could have given it to D-Patrick for another one of those floppy balloon men, bestowed a façade grant on some already thriving business, funded his posse tagging a brick wall and calling it a mural or got the mayor and his wife out of the way for a while.
