IS IT TRUE the CCO Publisher can relate to Mr. Ethridge remarks about Councilman Weaver immature behavior? …that Councilman Weaver accosted the 72 year Publisher of the CCO a few times during the past couple of years? …Councilman Weaver called him on at least two occasions late night (around 2:00 am) after seemly having one too many sarsaparillas and spouted vile words and insults towards him?

  1. Whoopie! Two academic scholarships! That’s exciting. Now, two academic degrees might be impressive.

    • She has at least two academic degrees if she is a practicing attorney. Most attorneys today hold a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

      • Yep, I’m well aware of that. One daughter, two nephews, and one nephew’s wife are lawyers.
Receiving two academic scholarships is not a big deal.

        • You implication is that she may not have gotten the degrees, only the scholarships. Most academic scholarships are awarded to very good to superior students. Why would you think it would be any different for Ms. Sherman?

          • Laura always throws bait. Oft times it’s stinky cheese to get a rise from the bottom feeders. She’s just out fishin’.
What she missed was that my comment wasn’t directed at the candidate (you don’t grandfather-in or read to get a law degree, you go to school for 3 or 4 years post-undergraduate and pass the Bar exam to become a lawyer. The number of academic scholarships you get have nothing to do with becoming a lawyer.) Mt comment was directed at the COO and their poor choice of terms. Ever since Joe has left the COO the quality and style of writing has deteriorated.

  2. Standard & Poor’s Report Assigns ‘A’ Rating to Downtown Convention Hotel Bond
The financial services company cites area’s strong economy
    Posted Date: 8/13/2015

A new report by Standard & Poor’s has reaffirmed its ‘A’ rating on lease rental bonds issued by the City of Evansville Redevelopment Authority to finance the Ford Center. S&P also assigned an ‘A’ rating on economic development revenue bonds for the downtown convention hotel project. The ‘A’ rating means the City has a “strong capacity” to meet its obligations to repay the debt and is among S&P’s highest rating categories.

“The rating reflects the strength of the City’s county option income tax (COIT) pledge” to pay off the bonds, according to a Standard & Poor’s report issued Monday, August 10, 2015. (more)………………….

Have we learned nothing from our experience with the FHA concerning the pledging of backstop funds? When the ship hits the sand those funds are vastly insufficient. I would suggest that the City of Evansville has already over committed their share of County Option Income Taxes (COIT) to a variety of projects.

      • The AGM designation you see above refers to bond insurance. Only about 15% of the municipal bonds out there have this insurance, which no doubt speaks to risk and the marketability of the bonds. I have not seen any data on what the insurance added to the cost of this bond issue.

  3. Did the Evansville Redevelopment Commission do a little “Land Banking” of their own?:

As you can see at the top of the page, the Vanderburgh county Assessor this property is still listing ERC I, LLC as the owner of record.

    • The Evansville Redevelopment Commission paid $1,480,000.00 of your money for this property. There are NO property taxes being collected on this property. Another case where taxpayers have been hosed big time while business interests walk away with their pockets full.

If all the money that has been taken from local taxpayers in the name of “ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT” had ACTUALLY been used for economic development, Evansville would be the capital of Indiana by now!

  4. I thought Weaver only got physical with women. I hear that the judge sealed one of the restraining orders against him. Both ex-wives have some pretty bad things to say about him. He’s slime.

  5. It appears the CCO is having some IT problems this morning. Looks like Hillary isn’t the only one with server issues.
The “Is it True?” feature is showing up under the “Featured” heading and the “Daily Off Topic Forum” isn’t functioning.

  6. Since the “Daily Off Topic Forum” feature is,non-functioning today, I’ll post this tidbit here.

One of the local on-line rags (C&P?, 14WFIE?) has posted that Owensboro’s Mayor Ron Payne is reporting that the renovations/expansion to the Sports Center to accommodate Ron “Sleazeball” Geary’s hockey team are underway and construction of Geary’s,downtown off-track betting facility has started.
    A. It doesn’t surprise me that part of Geary’s “deal” with Owensboro and Payne would be to get a gambling facility.
    B. The announcement appears a tad bit premature. Doesn’t the Commonweath of Kentucky need to approve gaming/gambling facilities first? Oops, I forgot, it’s Ron Payne’s town…

  7. I know a guy who hangs out at the Bokeh Lounge and sees Weaver there a lot, getting drunk. He said that somebody told him he ought to be careful about driving when he’s drunk and Weasel said that EPD Chief Billy Bolin watches out for him. If he kills somebody, I wonder what Bolin will do for him.

    • Don’t forget about Missy Nosby. She boozes at the Bokeh with her pal. I heard they got pulled over once and the cop let them go.

  8. Does anybody know if Dave Clark, the new man on the redevelopment commission has anything to do with Talon Mortgage?

  9. Karma. The Democratic party elite openly opposed Rick Davis. The Democratic party elite got their just reward, Councilman Weaver.

  10. Press, Evansville has the capacity to pay the bonds not because the economy is growing but because the current rate of the local income taxes are only 1 percent. The city and county has to raise this 1 percent because the current limit on property taxation has been met and they do not have the sufficient revenues to fund the governments. (Insufficient funds because they keep spending it on fun and games) The increase will be proposed as needed for essential services. I will end up being used for special interest. New increases will be proposed – and the cycle continues.
