University of Southern Indiana Golf seniors Taylor Howerton (Evansville, Indiana) and Preston Van Winkle (Santa Claus, Indiana) were named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference teams Tuesday, in an announcement by the league office.

Van Winkle earned All-GLVC honors for the first time in his career after tying-for fourth at the GLVC Championships with a five-over 221. He shot a two-under 70 in the final round of the tournament, which tied for his season low. For the season, Van Winkle averaged a career and team-best 75.88 strokes per round. He also had his career-best finish this season, tying for first at the UIS Spring Invitational.

Howerton was named All-GLVC for the second time in her career after a vote by the league’s head coaches. She has been consistent all season, finishing no worse than 13th, earning five top fives and finishing second three times. Howerton also leads the team with an average of 76.86 strokes per round this season, with a low round of a one-under 71. The 76.86 average would set the lowest scoring average in USI Women’s Golf history, besting her mark of 77.31 set just last season.

Howerton and USI Women’s Golf are currently competing in the NCAA Division II East Super Regional at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan.
