Evansville Riverfront 4th of July Fireworks Security & Safety

0

The Evansville Police Department will provide security for the July 4th Festivities on the Evansville Riverfront. Between 40,000 and 50,000 people are estimated to attend the fireworks display which for years has been a special event for young and old alike.

The department will have officers working on motorcycles, bicycles, 4-wheelers, and on foot. The officers will be patrolling the Riverfront and surrounding area to provide for the safety and security of those attending the event as well as those who live in the area.

Although this is a time to celebrate, there are a number of safety concerns that the E.P.D. will be working to prevent:

• Unsupervised and irresponsible juveniles that fire / throw fireworks into the crowd – a responsible adult should accompany any juvenile to the event
• Disorderly Conduct / Fights – Zero tolerance – barred from the site
• Public Intoxication / Underage Drinking
• Fireworks at the site
• Theft
• Lost children

NOTE: All backpacks, oversized handbags, containers, satchels, etc. are subject to search by law enforcement officers

Due to the heavy amount of vehicle and pedestrian traffic and the congestion that will occur, the E.P.D. asks that those attending be patient and courteous and follow the traffic officer’s directions
