Bridges named vice president for finance and administration at USI

University of Southern Indiana President Linda L. M. Bennett has announced the appointment of Steven J. Bridges as vice president for finance and administration at USI. He assumes official duties immediately.

The vice president for finance and administration (VPFA) reports to the president and serves as the University’s chief business and fiscal officer.

As VPFA, Bridges will provide strategic leadership and professional development for the University Budget Office, Business Office, USI Foundation Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Physical Plant, Public Safety, Campus Store, Distribution Services, Travel, Risk Management and Procurement.  He also will share operational responsibility for Housing and Residence Life and Internal Audit.

“Steve Bridges has demonstrated more than two and a half decades of dedication to the USI community as both an alumnus and employee,” said Bennett. “A combination of Steve’s passion for the institution and his strong credentials made him the top choice among a national search. He is eager to take on this new challenge and further develop his leadership and our University.”

Bridges received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from USI in 1988 and began working for the University in 1989 as a staff accountant. He worked his way up to bursar, chief accountant, controller and assistant Business Office director. Along the way, he earned his master’s degree in business administration from USI.

He was recently promoted from assistant to associate vice president, serving in an interim appointment for operations and assistant treasurer for USI. This role expanded upon his previous long term management of business operations for the University, and intooversight for Human Resources, Public safety, Information Technology, Physical Plant and the business operations of Housing and Residence Life.
