 Anna Hargis.
City Councilwoman Anna Hargis submitted notice of her resignation this morning to Vanderburgh County Republican Chairman Wayne Parke. Her final day serving on the City Council will be Friday, August 11, 2017.
Hargis, who is serving her first term representing Ward 3 on the Evansville City Council, has accepted a position as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch.
“This was a difficult decision as I’ve been honored to serve the city. I regret that my professional career will no longer allow me to be part of the council, but this was the best decision for my family. While my elected public service will soon come to an end, I look forward to remaining engaged with our community. I am hopeful my successor will be positive, curious, and have the best interest of our city at heart,” says Hargis.
GOP  Chairman Parke praised Hargis, saying, “Anna has represented Ward 3 admirably while serving on the City Council. She has been a strong advocate for her constituents and for the City of Evansville.  I have no doubt that her energy and enthusiasm will be missed.  I understand why she resigned, but I hate to see her go. I wish her well in her new position .”

  1. If anyone recalls, Taylor Payne was on Council while his professional career evolved around investment advisory services and when it became perfectly clear that his than Mayor Russ Lloyd, Jr. was driving our city into bankruptcy, he immediately Called a press conference announcing his resignation from the Council. Does anybody see the coincidence of Ms. Hargis’ resignation. Just days before the opening of the Budget hearings. She know it and the remaining clowns on the Clowncil should know it . . .We are broke . . .gave Ms Hargis credit . . .she knew when it was time to pack it in. It’s too bad we only heard crickets out her regarding her so-called financial expertise. Hope she does a better job advising her financial clients.
