Adopt A Pet

2

Is your couch feeling a little empty & cold? 80 lbs. of “pit bull” mix should do the trick. Meet our beloved Meatloaf! He’s about 2 years old, and his temperament test score was GREEN (the best possible!) It means he’d LOVE a home with kids of any age, although he’s very strong so a grownup would have to do the walking. He can be picky about dog friends so VHS staff can do a dog introduction with any potential canine housemates. He’s also heartworm-positive, but VHS will cover the cost of treatment! Meatloaf’s adoption fee is $100. He’ll go home neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and prepped for heartworm treatment. Call (812) 426-2563 or visit www.vhslifesaver.org for adoption details!

  1. Editor, thanks for including this feature in the CCO. Lots of good local organizations are working hard to find homes for these dogs and cats, and I’m sure the additional views you guys give them help immensely.

Our area residents seem to be slowly coming out of the dark ages as far as how they view domestic animals, and you are providing a very important community service by advertising for the cause. I appreciate it!

  2. Thanks for your comment DB. I certainly agree. My spouse and I work with multiple rescue organizations to promote fostering, find good adoptive homes for pets, write grants, fundraise, and a particular passion of mine, hospice-foster care (taking care of elderly dogs in their last years, months, or days of their life to make sure that they leave this world in a loving caring home). There are many people who would be very valued as volunteers with organizations including VHS and they are always needed. Volunteer, Adopt, and love an animal today.
