RESIDENT OF HARBORS EDGE SENDS CITY COUNCIL BASHING E-MAIL

DEAR MEMBERS OF CITY COUNCIL

To say I was disappointed on Monday night would be a giant understatement.  You would have to add disgusted, discouraged, and disrespected to the list of adjectives just to get in the ballpark. It was clear that some of the Council members had prepared and done their homework and it was also clear that others never planned to because they had their minds made up from the start.  The term compromise was thrown around at the end of the vote.  It is apparent that many of the members of council have been compromised and are not able to think through the problem with the kind of clarity and objectivity required to make policy.

I have attached a video from the Peter Frampton/Steve Miller Band concert last night at the Ford Center.  The music was so loud and I was curious what the decibels were so I measured, astonishing.  The bands were playing at 75 decibels, which you can see in the video, the song I recorded average d72 Db. What City Council has passed now puts the Evansville Police Department in the position of having to scream over the offending noise to tell the complainer that the noise is under the legal limits allowed.  Seriously, when you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.  We still have a very big problem.

As I have mentioned in the past, I am not a politician and don’t understand the games you all play with each other, but I do understand that Disturbing the Peace is never okay and the citizens of Evansville deserve Quiet and Peaceful Enjoyment in their own homes.   I have no idea where you go from here, but I believe you have only made the issue worse.

SINCERELY,

Stacy J Stevens

  1. Maybe I missed it! Where is the attached video from the Frampton/Miller Band that Stacy Stevens attached to her email? I for one would like to hear what 72-75 decibels sounds like in her neighborhood. Did the Evansville City Council really put together a bill that serves the public in general or did they just generally put one over on the public?

  2. CCOthanks for posting the email. I think the residents should lawyer up. Their property values will be squat once buyers hear what goes on after dark. This location has had so many failed attempts at success. Maybe the problem will, again, fix itself. Maybe a few random check points ?? EPD may tire of dealing with them. better Uber up

      • I know it’s not the current owner but the bar has been there longer than those houses. The owners of those homes must be liberals, I know a couple them are. What do you expect when you build next to a party bar, load music, drinking and lots of noise and police presents. I have absolutely no sympathy for them and love it when money can’t buy you power. The city council was right, I’m not a Connie fan, but sometimes she gets it absolutely right. Maybe she is becoming a little more conservative, she’s my rep and for once I’m proud of her.

Wow! I’m impressed. All those letters along with 50 cents won’t get you a cup of coffee.
Reads like someone is overly impressed with herself.

  4. Hard to call that development exclusive housing. Let’s look at that fact the water treatment plant is right across the street. I would prefer noise over the stench from the plant or for that matter, the polluted Ohio.

  5. Discuss converting the bar to a group home for registered sex offenders, and the neighbors will stop complaining.
