FORMER COUNCILMAN STEVE BAGBEY SERVICES SET FOR AUGUST 24, 2017

Steve Bagbey, 68, of Evansville, passed away at his residence Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was born to the late John and Anna Marie (Riger) Bagbey, September 13, 1948.

Steve retired from the Evansville Police Department after 26 years as a detective. He was an Evansville City Councilmanfor 16 years. After his retirement with the Police Department, he was Director of Security for the Catholic Diocese of Evansville. Steve referred high school and college sports for over 27 years and coached numerous youth sports. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Howton) of 45 years; sons, Sean Bagbey (Carla) and their children, Noah, and Ainsley; Chris Bagbey (Brittany) and their children Keaton, and Keeley; sisters, Daphne Monaco of Louisville, KY, Leah Parker and Sara Murray both of Evansville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and mother in law, Sue Ann Howton.

Visitation will be from 3-7pm Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel 800 S. Hebron. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am Friday, August, 25, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1303 S Green River Rd, Evansville, IN with Father Bernie Etienne officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery where the Fraternal Order of Police will conduct graveside services.
