    Yesterday the City County Observer received an anonymous e-mail concerning the salaries schedule that EVSC Administers and their support staff were paid in 2014.  Attempts are being made to get copies of the 2015 salaries schedule that EVSC Administrators received.

    We also intentionally left the names of the EVSC employees out of this report because we felt that job titles and income schedule was appropriate.

    It’s important to point out were told that the EVSC Superintendent may also receive an extensive travel allowance, clothing perks and health insurance package not listed in this report.   We also didn’t see any reference concerning that any other top administrator receive any car allowance, travel stipend or school system paid health insurance in this salary schedule.

    We also have been told by reliable sources that the powers that be are going to do everything in their power to keep the City County Observer from getting the EVSC 2015 salaries for top administers.  We are told that they don’t want this information made public until after next weeks general election.

    We were also told that if you will ad a 2% increase to the 2014 salary schedule it will give you an idea what the EVSC top administrators are making in 2015.

    1. what a waste. look at some of these titles. what do these people do? God help us as the EVSC wastes our monies and thinks so much of themselves and not so much of our children.

    3. You should also list the salaries of the individual school administrators (principals and staff). They’re as much a part of the “overhead” as anyone is.

      Also, in Indiana, for years, it’s been a known fact that the two highest paid governmental positions in any county have been the County Sheriff and the School Superintendents.

    4. Joe – you might check your spelling of “Benefits” on your header. No need to make an EVSC grad look uneducated….

    5. Average salary for a school superintendent in Indiana: $160,000+/year plus benefits. Average time in position/contract: 3 years, then they move on to a higher paying position/location. It is truly a “good old boys & girls” network.

      • PCD + 1. education majors are usually considered the lesser quality (not in all cases) college graduates, yet in their union protected environment they have managed to thrive.

        • What a horse shit comment. We’re the only developed nation that puts so LITTLE value on education. In most places teachers are paid like doctors because they realize the future is that important. Unfortunately we have a bleak future because the republican party has a vested interest in dumbing down the public. My problem is a lot of these positions just sound totally bogus. Pay the actual teachers in the classroom better.

If all the other “developed nations” pay so much more for education, why didn’t you proved some facts and statistics? Because you have not a single one to back up your ridiculous claims.

            I get a kick out of your attempt to blame the Republican party, Teachers are paid plenty. Unions are the reason the teachers don’t have as much money. The worthless and criminal unions tie a large percentage to line the union leaders pockets and pay off the Democrats in Congress. Who in turn shuffle more money to the unions via teachers pay. Its a scam and a ponzu scheme. But a guy with mush for brains like yourself wouldn’t understand. Be a good little monkey and follow the orders of the party.

            • Again it’s not the absolute value it is the ROI or what you get for what you pay for.

              There is billions of dollars of gold in the ocean, but it would billions more to extract.

              I would gladly borrow at 10% if I could invest the proceeds into something that made 25% ROI.

              Class size and reading comprehension have been show to be directly correlated.

              Norway seems to be getting the biggest bang for their buck, I would look to them for a path forward.

            • On the outside the Nordic countries look good but you’re comparing a country with a population of just over 5 million people to a country of 310 million.

            • Country’s population should have no effect on this discussion. The 310 million country would likely have “62 times” the students, teachers, schools, ect. as a 5 million populated country if the “birth rates” are the same.

        • Does anyone have a list who these people are, and also if they all belong to the union as is being claimed? Does rising from teacher positions to administration level, or hired from the outside, require union membership? Is the school superintended always a union person? This position I highly doubt! Smith, I do believed did come through the ranks which is fine with me. Some people object to people that belongs to a union in the same fashion as if a “D” or a “R” is behind a name.

          • This position is filled by Wendy McNamara…Director of Early College HS $80,030.00…Plus her salary for the Legislature. Not bad for 2 PART TIME JOBS! 80K plus appx $45Kfrom the legislature…not too shabby! If this is a PT job at EVSC…why is the pay so high? Does she get get counted off for her time away? Or get paid the entire year when she is in Indy??????

          • None of the supervisory employees are union members. The teachers and support staff belong to unions, but I’m not sure about the social workers.

      • Be careful Dutch, Old club it has a decent original cause, wouldn’t know about your local, however. Things seem to evolve pathways not commonly shared by other regions there with some organizations. We’d sure donate time or funds for the kids programs, though.

      • I think a lot of the commenters here are overlooking the fact that you are referring to the pattern followed by most SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS, Dutch. A few are just so choked on bile and hatred for unions that they can’t get beyond it. I think a lot of them are just angry that they don’t have a chance at the security that union membership affords people.

      • I wonder how it is that they are held accountable. If a school in the system fails, do they get fired? Do they take a public beating? I think they just make the best excuses they can come up with, blame teachers and parents, and get a raise every year, no matter what.

        • The reality is they get 115 grand for any shit they put forth, failed or not. at least for one hire cycle. Like Ghost said “its a joke”, like we said, “its a bad one.”

    8. Yesterday, when we came home after voting, I found a mailer in my mailbox that showed that the EVSC superintendent is paid more than the Governor of Indiana. I was disappointed that the mailer was a very negative ad, urging people to vote AGAINST Chris Kiefer, instead of asking them to vote FOR Jan Stricklin. It was paid for by a PAC and did not have the approval of either candidate, but it was clearly an expensive item that could have been far more effective if it had been more positive.
      I think it’s evident by the secrecy surrounding the 2015 budget that some generous raises have been passed out to the “right people”. The secrecy just emphasizes the shiftiness of the people doing the budgeting.
      The good news is that CCO is getting the message out. We had about a ten minute wait to vote at Oaklyn Library yesterday, and the voters were coming in steadily. I overheard more than one group of voters discussing the importance of getting a better School Board in place, so keep up the good work, CCO!

    9. Armstrong…Director of Early College HS – $80,030.00 This is Wendy McNamara…and it’s for a PART TIME job! She is gone from January through April! Plus the Appx $45,000 from the legislature…Pretty nice for two PART TIME jobs!

    10. I took a look at the salary info, and it prompts me to ask some “Is It True” questions, because the apparent answers are just too much to believe. IIT that the Director of R.T.I. position that pays nearly $85,000 per year is held by the wife of Supt. Smith?…IIT that Director of Early College and High School, State Rep. Wendy McNamara, must be doing a superb job in the position that she holds down when not attending to legislative duties? It must be, as she earned at raise of $25,000 in one year. The position was listed at $55,000 last year and now pays just over $80,000. …IIT that the Minister of Propaganda, also known as Chief Communications Officer is paid over $86,000 for writing “fluff” news releases?… IIT that Patricia Weinzapfel, wife of our former Mayor and now Ivy Tech Chancellor Jonathon Weinzapfel, is paid $66,000 per yr, as Executive Director of Family Engagement in Community Schools?
